NCAA Tournament Games

Let’s see if NU returns to possession team play or like BC reverts to carrying the puck too much and freaking out!

If you true hockey fans ever get the chance, go watch a game at Mathews Arena! Revered as Fenway in Boston lore for the sports history held there, but the fans in the balcony are literally over the goalie! So the “sieve” cheer really has an effect….
anyway, hopefully Hockey East gets to join father other leagues with a NC this year BUt a loooong way to travel yet….

I won't be at all surprised to see Northeastern win the championship. They're essentially last year's team, plus Irving. I might even say they're the favorite right now. Congrats to them.

Frankel gives them a great opportunity to win at all, but I would still go with OSU as the favorite at this point.

Yes, the refs in the Northeastern - Wisconsin game today were all from Hockey East. Kelly Cooke was one of the referees in the Gold Medal game between Canada and the USA in Beijing. She played at Princeton. Her brother Evan was a linesman in the game today. Chelsea Rapin was the other referee today - she played at Vermont. The play-by-play guy is a BU grad ... so not one of TTT's buddies. His name is Tyler Murray and he's a regular NESN announcer for Hockey East men's games and Dartmouth hockey as well.

I have a totally irrelevant question for you: what was with the NU players doing all the mugging and laughing when they were on the 'big screen' today? Don't they play all their home games there? Meaning they would be on the big screen pretty regularly, no?

Yes, NU plays all of their home games there at Matthews Arena. As Zoofer mentioned, it's a great venue to watch a game because you're right on top of the action. It's the original home of the Boston Bruins. Given the magnitude of the game today, I'm guessing the players were just a bit more excited than normal when noticing they were on the big screen from the bench. Yes, they use the big center ice video screen at all of their regular season games - at least the ones that I have attended.

Yale 1 Colgate 1 OT

Referees in this one called nothing in the third. Must have been 4 tripping penalties and a few interferences that were not called.
