Yes, OSU played aggressively versus Wisco the weekend we swept them. The attack mode was genuinely thrilling. :) That's not to say the Buckeyes controlled the whole 120 minutes. The Badgers definitely had their strong stretches.

They're using TV timeouts at the FF? We got this!!

Well, maybe yes, maybe no. But the coaching staff really has done remarkable job of gaining maximum benefit from the extra timeouts.

O'Gara's. Geez, I knew that. The green neon Script O'Gara's even looks a little like Script Ohio.;) Will have to get a photo of the sign & building before they're gone...

Thoughts of O'Gara's, Monroe HS, St Patrick's Day, Bemidji, the former team formerly known as the Sioux, and now Clarkson all had me wondering how OSU has done against teams with green colored uniforms in the last few years. Well, if my Harding math is correct which is extremely doubtful, it looks like OSU (my favorite remaining team) has a 43% chance of defeating Clarkson. I wouldn't be too concerned though, the Gophers have had problems over the years with teams with green uniforms and still managed to win 7 national championships. So GO BUCKEYES and beat those "Green Slime" er rather Golden Knights!:D

Wow, I’m impressed that someone from out of town can give recommendations like that, the Gopher faithful here would have suggested places like Cossetta’s, Matt’s Bar, Annie’s Parlor, or :eek:Buffalo Wild Wings:rolleyes:.

Our meeting place before or after hockey games for the last two seasons has been Buffalo Wild Wings. For many years we would go to the Leaning Tower of Pizza, then renamed The Hole, then renamed The Playoff's and now El Loro. We have not gone to El Loro because in the fall of 2015 we went to the Playoff's after a Gopher women's hockey game against Ohio State and the 4 of us sat at our usual table surrounded by Gopher women's hockey photos. The Gopher football team was playing a big game with Nebraska at TCF Bank stadium and we asked the bartender to put the Gopher football game on the television by our table. He said he could not because he and the two other guy's at the bar were watching the South Carolina football game and if he changed the other sets it would also change the set by the bar. We went to BWW's and watched the last quarter of the game there. The Sam Adam's lager is not bad and the chicken wings are pretty good, too.

Assume a perfectly lawful tax deduction. You're eligible. And yet, you object to the deduction on philosophical grounds. In fact, you're working to have the law repealed.

There's nothing wrong with taking the deduction, as long as it remains lawful to do so.

Bottom Line? In Hockey as in Tax Law, coaches work to find legal ways to gain an advantage. And should.

I'm not at all complaining that coaches take advantage of it, they should and if they didn't they would be derelict in their duty. My beef is from a fan's perspective. I don't like all the pauses and deadtime at the game and I'd like to see the 4th line get some ice time, those girls work hard too and should get on the ice. The artificial rest periods kill 4th line opportunities in semi close games.

Coaches on the men's side skate the fourth line even though they have TV timeouts. Women's coaches fail to develop a fourth line, and thus, don't have one that they trust with the game on the line.

I think it has WAY less to do with women's coaches "not developing" a 4th line and more to do with the fact that the talent pool in women's is just WAY less deep

Whatever, as a fan I wish they would put a stop to it. Keep the game moving as much as possible.

I disagree. Coaches in the women's game use their top players in all situations, game in and game out: 5-on-5, 4-on-4, PP, PK, EA. Some kids look pretty good in limited minutes as rookies, but they never get regular shifts and never get better. In the men's game, you have more people who don't dress their first year and skate important shifts as seniors.

You're right that the talent pool isn't that deep, but find a role (other than "bench") for every player and let her fill that role. There is nothing better than to watch such players improve.

So tell me Mr.PGB are you there as a spectator or are you working the game? If you're working it I don't think their rafters are as high as the Schott and certainly not near ground level like our old barn so maybe you'll be somewhere in between? LOL!

Big Ten Network...(tv viewing) is the assistance/information I got here the other day. Couldn't find anything about streaming a couple days ago.

The streaming piece of BTN is the web site BTN2go

As best I understand it, BTN2go games come either free, or with an additional subscription specific to the web site; last week's UW-Minn game was free. But to get access in the first place, your cable subscription has to include BTN. (I don't about HULU and all that stuff.)

As a purist, I tend to agree with you guys.

The fact that the host school is allowed to decide whether or not to use timeouts is also problematic. Rules and their interpretation should be as consistent as possible from one game to the next. Allowing the home coaching staff to impose a major rules change probably gives gamesmanship too large a role.

And yet, the only way to have a fully consistent rule would be to use the timeouts for all games. Some games are already on TV. That number will continue to grow; albeit slowly. OK, requiring the presence of a commercial broadcaster would eliminate the gamesmanship from the situation. But not the inconsistency.

It will be interesting see how this is handled in the seasons ahead.
