NCAA Quarterfinals

Re: NCAA Quarterfinals

Source please. I'm a STH with a friend on the staff and have not heard of this.

Source is a current player for BU women's team. I heard they were adding a new locker room at Agannis for the women and all their games will be there next season.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinals

..... as opposed to the feed from Quinnipiac, which didn't show the only goal, because they were instead showing one of the many NCAA commercials. ......... For the Fast goal, I've yet to see any shot from any angle, even in a highlights package for either school. There was only one goal; it would be rather important to capture the moment, but it appears that nobody did.

I turned the game on at the 30 sec mark and was shocked that Clarkson had already scored. Awaited a replay of the goal throughout the contest and at the Clarkson athletic site and the ECAC site and they all have the same set of replays, a bunch of rushes and shooting of the puck but none of the goal. :( :(

Yes, that's kind of a disaster, vicb. You can see the player introductions at the archive of the Quinni feed of the game. Then they go to the NCAA blue screen for the national anthem, and as ARM says, a bunch of NCAA highlights of non revenue sports. They don't make it back for the start of the game, and the announcer comes in before the video telling you the game has started and Clarkson has scored. Then the video starts and you see the Clarkson players celebrating. Very unfortunate!

Re: NCAA Quarterfinals

I not sure why the one Princeton player (McKenna?) didn't try to avoid hitting Leveille but it did get her some up close and personal time with #13.

I was at the game and was pretty irked with McMillen for taking the retaliation penalty. Then I watched the video of it and saw how McKenna seemed to intentionally run into Leveille and that changed my opinion of the penalty a bit.

Still, with the Gophers' power play running at close to 50% on the season, was it worth giving up about a half a goal? As it turned out it didn't matter much, but at the time they were up by only one. And then they got another power play opportunity a few minutes later, which they were able to convert on. But against Wisconsin and possibly BC, or in any one-and-done situation when the outcome of the game is still in doubt, I don't believe retaliation penalties are worth taking.

It's definitely a fine line there as you want to get the power play but I don't fault McMillen for taking issue with the goalie being knocked down.

I don't either, except she did cross the line and the team was fortunate that the refs didn't call a major (they did take some time discussing it). Not to belabor the point because it all worked out and nobody on either side was injured.

I'm pretty sure that the refs were actually discussing whether or not to give McKenna a second minor for roughing or a minor and a ten minute misconduct for running Leveille. Over the course of their discussion, the Princeton penalty box door kept opening and closing like there was an expectation that a second player might have been going in.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinals

I don't know if it is that much of an advantage, against Wisconsin anyway.

LaBahn is 200x90, so the Badgers are already used to a somewhat bigger ice sheet (and beat the Gophers there twice in Dec), and if Wisconsin thinks they need ice time on a sheet that is bigger still, the Kohl Center is 200x 97. And connected by tunnels, etc.

The lake has changed a bit for those who haven't seen it in a while. It is a marked difference in the corners.
At any rate, don't the teams arrive Wednesday? That should give them some good acclimation to the

In the summer of 2010, UNH’s Campus Recreation department spent in excess of $1.5 million dollars in renovations to the Whittemore Center. On the ice, the corners were adjusted from a 28’ radius to a 20’ radius. The goal lines moved from 15’ off the end boards to 11’ to play similar to NHL rinks. The Arena installed all new lighting over the seating areas, concourse, and picture areas. All new energy efficient fluorescent lighting was used. The arena was upgraded with a brand new dasher system, that has seamless glass on the sides

Do not like.

Still a bit skeptical because of how Agganis operates (all corporate) so I'll have to do some digging, but thanks for the heads up

Re: NCAA Quarterfinals

Incredibly -- and if I had not seen it I would not have believed it if you told me -- BC had their pep band at the women's game at 1pm and did not have a pep band at the men's game in the same arena 5 hours later.

The students are on break and I believe they put a band together specially for the women.

That is some RESPECK.

Yeah, that's fantastic

Speaking of RESPECK though, BU's pep band is at every women's home game so.......

:D

Oh my heavens, the crowd......and a rink with benches on the opposite sides....but the seats look nicer than LaBahn's.

It's a really nice arena (although the concessions are horrible). I've been there for several men's and women's games, including the 2014 FF. I go to the Clarkson games there every year as it's the closest arena to my home. The attendance sucked Saturday but it sure didn't help that the CCT men were playing in a ECAC playoff series against SLU and the QU men were playing in a ECAC playoff series at home. If the game were at Cheel, I'd have made it a Clarkson hockey day, but I don't think your average fan would. I made the 300 mile trek up to Appleton from my home as a SLU/CCT playoff series is one not to be missed.
