NCAA Quarterfinal - Oswego @ Adrian

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Oswego @ Adrian

The thing with Adrian is that they are extremely dangerous with their chances. Teams may be able to carry play for stretches against them, but Adrian gets one chance and they put it in the back of the net with alarming regularity. Just the kind of thing to take the wind out of an opponent's sail. Should be a great game...

This was how the game went 2 years ago out in Adrian. We carried play, chance after chance. Goal Adrian. Should be a great showing between 2 pretty equal teams. Oswego limit's chances.......... Oswego 4 -2 with the EN goal.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Oswego @ Adrian

Adrian's top line of Ranalli, Brothers and Thompson is deadly...combined for 61G and 71 A = 132 total points this season..
One of the best passing lines, around the net, that I have seen..

Had about 850 packed into the arena, for the Friday game vs SNC in Jan...not sure they would have room for many more than that...maybe another 100 tops....
I was standing behind the glass in the far corner and the standing room area was packed in pretty tight that night..

maybe they can fit a few in on the benches like they do in pro basketball:eek:......anything for a buck

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Oswego @ Adrian

This game could go either way, the one thing I see as an advantage for Oswego is this:
PIM:
5) Adrian 180-for-494 17.03
66) Oswego 106-for-256 9.48

PP:
2) Oswego 29-of-91 31.87
7) Adrian 39-of-151 25.83

PK:
15) Adrian 102-of-119 85.7
26) Oswego 73-of-87 83.9

Both teams have to play very disciplined hockey, Adrian doesn't want to get into a special teams battle with Oswego, Hobart tried to draw penalties but Oswego luckily didn't take the bait. I'mvery excited for this Saturday, any news on if Adrian will be switching their video feed up? The commercials at random times really kills the mood, I'm sure the NCAA is against commercials for anyone not paying them money. Will Oswego send a video crew out?

The few Adrian games I was able to watch this season, they streamed through YouTube. No commercials.

that's right, I was getting them confused with another school, I like Adrian's stream because I can rewind

It was obnoxious a year or two ago. I think it was UStream? That had the aforementioned random commercials.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I ran into that nonsense watching us play Geneseo a few years back, and I think somewhere else along the way. That was a bit crazy.

Lost in those penalty, power play, and penalty kill numbers is this: Oswego has had exactly 4 more power plays than their opposition this year (91-87). Adrian has had 31 more than their opponents. That's more than one more per game, on average. We're certainly not a bunch of Skating Mother Teresas, but we're out-chancing our opponents when it comes to the man advantage. Oswego is barely breaking even.

To me, the game is simple. If Adrian comes out and plays like they're capable, then we're going to Ridder next weekend, plain and simple. If we play like we did against Neumann, for example, we're probably looking at a SUNYAC rematch in the NCAA semis for the right to meet UWSP for everything. Anything else in between and we've got a hell of a game on our hands come Saturday night.

Have to pretty much agree with your thoughts on the game. I predict a 4-2 victory for the Bulldogs.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Oswego @ Adrian

From someone who was at adrian twice this year....don't waste your time with the bad seats in section d. Take the standing room, if anything you won't sweat your _ss off with the giant wall heater and overhead heaters.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Oswego @ Adrian

If Adrian plays like they are capable, and the Lakers play like they did sat night vs Hobart, there might not be a winner until late late sat night:eek:

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Oswego @ Adrian

The sight lines against the glass in the standing room zone, near the Adrian locker room, were very good...Oswego should be shooting in that direction in the first and third periods.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal - Oswego @ Adrian

Not to hijack this thread, but everyone seems to be giving Point a pass on through to the championship game.

Some things to consider:
-If St. Norbert had replaced their goal netting one week earlier, it is possible SNC would have received the last Pool C bid and Hobart would have been the Pool B.
-In Point's last three games they have had their hands full with a poor Superior squad and lost to River Falls.
-Hamline beat Point earlier this season.

Smart money is still on Point in that quarterfinal, but hey, that's why they play the games.

I was thinking along the same lines. Though everyone expects Stevens Point to walk through this, Hamline is on a nice little run right now. I think it will be closer than expected.
