NCAA Players to 2026 Olympics

Canada has resigned itself to giving the old players their last Olympics…
Thoughts on changes you would have made?

I don’t have strong opinions on it. I like the Osborne pick, Maschy seems off these days. Wish Miller made it but she didn’t have a great start this year. Nurse getting a free ride kind of annoys me. At this point she’s injury prone and hasn’t really wowed in the Pw. Maltais also, seems the OSU coach got the best out of her. Clark 1 point in 11 games! Troy Ryan says it’s not his job to be developing the youngins. Is it his job to take the players that are hot now? Abby Roque may have had no interest in playing for Canada but I feel like she’s better than some of these players.

It’s going to be a great Olympics. Canada feels like a huge underdog so if they win…

Hopefully the games will be better than the U18 embarassment.
Not seeing much competition though
Perhaps watching the B group would be interesting? Not sure if those are aired. In the U18s Hungary relegating Finland seemed to be the biggest story.

I do look forward to watching US and Canada vs each other, and Czechia and Finland vs each other. Switzerland seems to have run out of gas but we’ll see.

France and Italy joining the party for the first time should be celebratory if nothing else.

All games will be either televised on USA Network or streamed on Peacock.

Not too much new in here but it does share another school Laila was considering.

"Creative license": I am 100% sure she had committed to UW by the time the 2022 U18 Championships came to Madison; the article implies otherwise.

I printed out the rosters for the US and Canadian teams, and then noted on it who was committed where, so I could pay 'special' attention to the WCHA commits (I'm 99% sure I still have that list in my desk somewhere.) The one 'still uncommitted' that I recall being on that list was Josie St Martin, who was a year younger than most all of the rest.

Agreed. The dig at the other’s facilities did make me laugh.

I think it is new to most Badger fans, that Laila initiated the change to play defense and not USA Hockey.
I think it is retarding her development as F, unless she plans on sticking to D in the pwhl. She needs a lot more seasoning as a d. Those move the puck quickly and accurately instincts are not there. I think if she would have stayed at forward, they couldn't have ignored her in 4 years. She has the potential to be the best F of all time. I hope it works out for her, team USA and UW.

Once the Olympics are over her days of playing D are absolutely positively OVER

I hope so, but what if she feels that she can be more impactful or get more playing time as a d? What if the team that drafts her wants her to play d? Did she look like pwhl ready f last weekend? Not compared to her teammates. Never say never.

There's much more depth at forward in the professional ranks than there is on the blue line. Especially if there's expansion next year. Not that I think Edwards will struggle as a pro regardless of position, but I think if you're a coach that is going to be taken into consideration.

She is NOT a defenseman
