NCAA Hockey - 2023/24 **Insert Witty Tagline**

3 eastern teams in the Springfield region and I'd be surprised if the arena is 50% full for Denver-UMass.

I imagine the 8-1 beat down UMass took in the HE semi last week put a damper on how many Minutemen fans wanted to take the day off of work and drive south.

It's been evident for years that moving at least the first round to the top 8 seeds hosting is the way to go, and it seems like coaches and fans are finely starting to come around. Really seems like just a matter of time now.

Yeah...I mean there's something to it, especially for teams that rely on physical play to wear opponents down. Which isn't necessarily dirty. But the phrase gets thrown around a lot to excuse late and borderline hits.

Clay Matvick is class. It's too bad he gets paired with that big head square faced doofus.

Saw two separate attendance figures in the box scores for the Springfield regional on both USCHO and College Hockey News. Around 3900 for the first game and 5800 for the second one. Were there two separate admissions, or did they just count the turnstyle for the first game and say those 3900 were there for DU/UMass, and then add people who came in for the second game? If almost 10,000 people actually bought tickets for a regional with two separate admissions, that would be shocking.

Sounds like Mr. I’s daughter is pushing Michigan hard to have a girls varsity team.

I'm glad there's momentum towards this, but I'll be interested to see how they pull it off. As I understand it Yost barely has room for the men and they're already creative in how they utilize the space of the building. I guess they could play at the Ice Cube but that would be a big disparity in resources making the women share a public rink.

According to USCHO and CHN, the BC/MTU game is on ESPN U. But according to WatchESPN it is on ESPN+, and thus not available to stream via my WatchESPN by logging in to my Spectrum account. Anyone else seeing this?

*ETA* Nevermind, it now shows up as available on both ESPNU and ESPN + and access is there.

I’m streaming it on WatchESPN, thru my cable account

1-1 after one between Tech and BC. Could probably be 3-3. BC dominated the first eight minutes and Tech had quite a few chances from point blank.

Because this board is so broken I was reading Reddit last night. Omaha fans seemed bummed but whioux fans were extra salty. Ironic given they could not beat Omaha not once, not twice, but three times in the last month.

the way they were cheering last night like their team won the Super Bowl after every goal is telling.

The announcers kept complaining about a penalty shot:
1) what I saw (replay during a break) wasn't super clear that it should have been one. Not sure what they were seeing that I didn't.
2). Not sure if they understand that teams can decline a penalty shot. I suspect the gophers will turn it down every time if offered.

That should be a 5 min on bc

last night btw- I’m still not sure what Chelsey was supposed to do to avoid the Omaha guy crouching. Two mins made more sense, the Omaha guy had some responsibility

yeah that was an abysmal major call. From the one angle it was clear he let up and tried to avoid contact.

the BC one should have been called from the get go.
