NCAA Frozen Four: UMD vs. Minnesota -- the Sibling Rivalry

Re: NCAA Frozen Four: UMD vs. Minnesota -- the Sibling Rivalry

With the 6th game of the season looming.. I think we're having a bit of trouble coming up with enough to talk about for the game :D It even seems 'tame' right now :P

I'd like to think of it as the calm before the storm. The storm that is a fury of hurt that the Dogs are going to unleash on the Gophers.

Which raises the question, in a an open field fight between a gopher and a bulldog, would the gopher really stand a chance?

Re: NCAA Frozen Four: UMD vs. Minnesota -- the Sibling Rivalry

The Bulldogs' last game against New Hampshire should be motivation enough to step it up and deliver on Friday. That was not their best effort and this season they always seem to come back from a game like that and remind everybody how much talent this team has. I think if they want the title on Sunday, it's theirs to take. The Saara Tuominen line again: "Take what belongs to you." And I think they will. :D

Normally I would say "Spoken like a true Gopher". But I think even the Gopher fans can do better than you.
Oh my, how rude...what a bully. I question why I even registered for the forum now. I guess I'm not a member of the cool-kids club...BOO HOO...:(

And you know why not? Because you're too darn old!:p

Hockey? Anyone got something to say that is even slightly focused on hockey and not 3rd grade?

I think it will come down to the coaching - I know the goofs will not give Miller much credit but- win or lose I will --- Go Dogs

I think even her most critical detractor will allow that Coach Miller is one of the best at preparing a hockey team, and the Bulldogs' improvement from the start of the season to now speaks to that. But as in most sports, I think the coaches get too much credit and too much blame. At this time of year, it is the players who have to go out and play. It is Laura Fridfinnson who has to figure out how to keep her shoulder located long enough to score a goal or Emily West who has to peel herself off of a goal post so she can make a play in OT. I've seen a lot of coaches after a game, and none of them have been wearing an ice bag. The coaches can teach, implore, and inspire, but it is the players who have to respond and execute, no matter how exhausted they may be.

Win or lose, Miller has done a great job. Now it is up to her players.

Not to stir the pot or start anything.. I at least attempt not to do that when possible :D

What exactly is the relationship between Zebro and fans? I was shocked to hear a guy wearing an M yelling 'Get #20 off the ice!' during the Ohio State game.. I would have asked about this sooner but with all going on it kind of slipped what's left of my mind.. (the month spent hiking various trails, between hockey and high school baseball/softball is good regenerative for said mind!)

Re: NCAA Frozen Four: UMD vs. Minnesota -- the Sibling Rivalry

I'll just say that lately she has been playing much better than she has at other times throughout her career. She had a tendency in the past to get beat often enough on D then grabbing the opponent and dragging them down...then off to the penalty box. She could be a source of apprehension for Gopher fans when attempting to defend the smaller but quicker opposing forwards in her D zone.

She has never had the greatest foot speed IMO...she's big. This season she's learned to use her reach well as an advantage to protect the puck and make some nice rushes up the ice. Foot speed and skating have improved markedly as has her shooting in the offensive zone. Just my opinion.

How much is a single session ticket? For the life of me, I'm having trouble at the Gopher site . . . Humph!:o

Re: NCAA Frozen Four: UMD vs. Minnesota -- the Sibling Rivalry

I don't think you can buy a single session.. have to buy the $35 pass online or buy single session at the door.. at least someone told me that last night..

Re: NCAA Frozen Four: UMD vs. Minnesota -- the Sibling Rivalry

CrazyDave emailed a reply about tickets... information for single session

in reference to FF tickets, individual session tickets are
> available online at https://www.tickets.umn.edu/online/default.asp. Adult
> bench tickets are $22 and all chairbacks are $27, with an additional $1
> handling fee. That compares to all-session bench tickets running $35 and
> chairbacks running $40, plus a $5 handling fee. If you want to post that,
> you can quote me.

Binnyrus- you can get tickets at the UMD office too. There's a section for us loyal dog fans. $5 cheaper w/o seat backs.

I couldn't say it any better. She has finally learned to play with her size as an asset. ARM and I have discussed it and I think the game against the National team marked the start of the turnaround. Too bad it wasn't a little sooner in her career.

Best of luck to the Gophers tomorrow.:)
