NBA 2010-11: KobeJesus vs. the LeBronathon

Re: NBA 2010-11: KobeJesus vs. the LeBronathon

To be fair, Tebow's at least won something at some point in his career.

Ha. got sucked into Linsanity after watching the highlights of the Lakers-knicks game. And Kobe was right Jeremy didn't come from no where. saw some old youtube videos of HS championship game and Harvard-Uconn where he lit up. Interesting interview with the Warriors where Lin talked about getting PG experience as a Rookie, so basically Golden State trained him for a year as PG for the Knicks. haha.

Kinda interesting Lin actually went thru something similar in 2009 with Harvard... just at much higher level now.

Jeremy Lin's Legend Grows, Carries Harvard With It
Dec 25, 2009 – 12:00 PM

"That's something I have to guard against,'' Lin said Wednesday afternoon. "It's a trap for me to start being able to think about myself, because our team is a true team, team-oriented, and that's how we play. The media, the way they give awards they don't give it to the whole team, but everybody on this team understands what each person needs to do. It's not about what one person does. It's not a one-man show, and everybody understands that.''

In those games, three days apart earlier this month, all Lin did was score 27 and 30 points, respectively, adding to a resume that exceeds what most Ivy League players have done recently, and a legend that has inflated rapidly over the last two seasons. Explosive, acrobatic, fearless, blessed with a full range of abilities but also able to score in bunches when asked to, Lin has made himself impossible to ignore

Lol. talk about media blitz.
Magazines, newspapers, networks and other observers are jumping on the Lin bandwagon, calling him the most underrated, underexposed and under-appreciated player in the country. That talk is what Lin steers around so diligently, but opposing players and coaches are just as effusive.

"He's one of the better kids, including Big East guards, who have come in here in quite some time ... I can't think of a team he wouldn't play for,'' marveled Jim Calhoun after Lin had given his Connecticut team fits before it finally subdued Harvard 79-73 on Dec. 6. Added Huskies guard Jerome Dyson, who had to defend him: "He's a great player. I'm definitely tired after this one

This is close as I'll get to caring about the NBA:

I still can't get myself to watch a full game, but I've gotten pretty into the playoffs this round. Watched the 4th quarter of Boston-Philly yesterday and the second half of OKC-LA, plus I've been following the Pacers-Heat series closely. I could definitely see myself watching a Pacers-Thunder final. If there's a player that's going to get me interested in the NBA again, it's gonna be Durant.

If the Pacers do eliminate the Heat, over/under on number of hours before Spoelstra gets fired and when Pat Riley is named coach?

Re: NBA 2010-11: KobeJesus vs. the LeBronathon

I know Metta World Ron Artest has a bad history, but watching this game he definitely gets singled out and treated differently by the refs. He committed a hard foul on a layup but still got ball. The announcer said "That should be a regular good, hard foul but it'll be a flagrant 1 because it's Metta World Peace." Sure enough, a flagrant 1 gets called. Followed by technicals on Artest and Kobe for arguing.

Re: NBA 2010-11: KobeJesus vs. the LeBronathon

If the Celtics would step up and stop playing to the level of their competition, they'd have beaten the 76ers by now. With the Heat advancing to the ECF last night, I think the Celtics are our best chance of keeping LeBron out of the NBA finals.

Re: NBA 2010-11: KobeJesus vs. the LeBronathon

From my admittedly limited watching of the NBA, there isn't anyone that's stopping the San Antonio Spurs anyway.
