NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

The truly scary part about all this is that officiating in college basketball is much worse.

Part of that is because college hoops officials are independant contractors. There's an article about one ref who makes 250k/season, averaging about a game a day (sometimes doing a D3 game on the same day as a D1 game, one in the morning, one at night). You can't tell me he's still sharp in February after doing that kind of grind non-stop since November 1.

Granted, most college refs aren't that insane. Still, most of em work at least 3-4 games a week.

The T-Wolves played a spirited game tonight and the Celtics were lucky to get out of Minneapolis undefeated. 6-0.

The C's win and Ryan Gomes looks great. A good night for Team Jon.

At first I thought, "He's an idiot." But in fairness to him, it's not that he's necessarily stupid, it's that he's just really young.
Saying he is willing to initiate the movement, LeBron James would like to see any NBA player who wears No. 23 to choose another number in homage to Michael Jordan.

With Jordan looking on from a third-row seat Thursday night, James scored 34 points to help the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Heat 111-104 in Miami. Afterward, in what was an impromptu plea, James said he plans to switch his number from 23 to 6 after this season.

"I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game has to be recognized some way soon," James told TNT. "There would be no LeBron James, no Kobe Bryant, no Dwyane Wade if there wasn't Michael Jordan first.

"He can't get the logo [Hall of Famer Jerry West's silhouette adorns the NBA's logo], and if he can't, something has to be done. I feel like no NBA player should wear 23. I'm starting a petition, and I've got to get everyone in the NBA to sign it. Now, if I'm not going to wear No. 23, then nobody else should be able to wear it."
Yeah, let's retire No. 23 because he was a pioneer. Oh, I'll just wear No. 6 (which was worn by an 11-time NBA champion, five-time MVP, one of the league's first black stars, and the league's first black head coach).

Russell could probably beat Jordan at gambling too.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

This has been a really eventful season with tons of good games going on throughout. Between all that and the impending free agents that might be dealt this year, LEAGUE PASS is the only way to stay on top of all the action.

Streaming games online, with DVR and archiving of past games means you get to see tons of games for cheap

Anyone else see Luke Ridnour get hurt in the Bucks-Celtics game last night? It was awful. Arms are not supposed to bend like that. I haven't heard what specifically what the injury is, but I'm not sure how an arm can bend backwards and not break or at least tear.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Only saw the highlights but even ESPN seemed to be suggesting that Kobe got every call down the stretch and the Bucks got screwed.
