NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Jon

Say, this is nice.
Nice win for the C's this evening, even if they spent half the fourth quarter not scoring baskets.

Ah, bouncyball! Time to focus on a sport where the officiating is ACTUALLY PUTRID! And it could be worse - at least we don't have replacement refs!

BTW: How the **** do you suspend Glenn Davis when he's out with a broken thumb? He wasn't going to play anyways. It's like sentencing someone to 40 years in prison after he gets the chair.

. . . and the last half of the third quarter turning it over every other possession.

That said, this should be a great team if they avoid a major injury.

From gpl:

So the NBA is going to be MORE lenient with traveling calls this season. How is that possible? And they wonder why basketball fans long ago left the NBA...

I think the NBA will next add those trampolines around the hoops. Geez. (My son has watched that on TV but I have forgotten the name...)

From the article:

"The aforementioned traveling rule will make it legal for players to gather on the catch and take two steps before dribbling the ball."

Good job NBA.

From gpl:

Good job NBA.

So that play last night where Ray Allen took 5 steps without dribbling is going to be commonplace. Awesome.

Can we all agree that the NBA's officiating makes what we see in the WCHA and ECAC weekly look amazingly competent?

Dribbling is so last week.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

I wonder who is going to rush for more yards this season: Adrian Peterson, Lebron James or Kobe Bryant?

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Dribbling is so last week.

We've been complaining about the NBA's non-interpretation of traveling since Jordan was in his prime. Nice of the NBA to not do anything.

David Stern has naked pictures of someone somewhere to get away with this (asside from Kobe. We all know the depths of that attraction)... Roger Goodell gets criticized more frequently and his league if much more popular.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

More leniant on traveling? How the hell is that possible unless they make dribbling a violation?

Time for my annual NBA post:

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Former NBA ref and convicted felon Tim Donaghy has a book coming out. Or rather, he DID have a book coming out. The NBA, without reading it, has threatened a lawsuit against Random House if they publish it.

The fun part? Deadspin got an advance copy of it and have a few excerpts from the book and its enough to make you want to never, ever care about the game again.

I don't think there's anything in there that anybody who cared about the NBA didn't already know.

It's going to be hilarious to watch NBA betting lines this year. I wonder when we'll get our first game taken off the board because Dick Bavetta was assigned to it.

That's why I posted it here, there's lots of people that don't care about the NBA here. :D

And yeah, that's going to be fun. I hope it happens.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

I actually saw traveling called three times tonight on both the C's and Bobcats. They must be reading this thread...

Speaking of the Bobcats. 59 points in one game? Really?

I saw traveling called once tonight too.

And I saw it not called about eight times.
