MSU Spartans 2016-17 (Volleyball Looks Like a Legit Alternative)

Re: MSU Spartans 2016-17 (Volleyball Looks Like a Legit Alternative)

I don't think that the greeter at Walmart is qualified to be a college hockey coach just because he's a nice guy and an amazing individual.

Just add that Hollis quote to the list with "you can't rebuild a college hockey program in five years"...And that "it's easier to build a program from scratch like Penn State than it is to rebuild one".

From a story in the Detroit Free Press:
"Cole said he was on the ice when he heard Anastos was stepping down".

“I’ve always been a Spartan and have always been a Spartan fan,” Cole said. “Tom never had a bigger fan than me here in wanting to see the program do well. That’s been a big part of my life.

“I love representing my country (in the National Team Development Program). This is a fabulous place here. It’s an honor to do it on a daily basis. Your alma mater – that’s always been a dream job.”

Cole, 50, said he’d be willing to serve in an advisory role, if asked. He played for the Spartans from 1985-89 and spent the past four seasons with the NTDP, after serving as coach at Alabama-Huntsville for three seasons (2007-2010). He also has coached the Muskegon Fury, Grand Rapids Griffins and Motor City Mechanics.

“I’m available for them,” Cole said. “It’s a time for Spartans to pull together.”

There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Yes, I shouldn't be happy about someone losing their job. But......

Is Cole excusing himself from consideration? If so, Hollis would be a fool to not utilize his advice if he is offering.

There are those rumors about already taking our job. Someone here really buys into that rumor, but I'm not so sure.

Re: MSU Spartans 2016-17 (Volleyball Looks Like a Legit Alternative)

He was. Not sure if he still has that job.

He's also 63 and kind of an egomaniac. His wife also likes Colorado. Plus, I think he'll get into a fist fight with Izzo or Dantonio. The guy is a legitimate legend, but I also think he's a bad fit for MSU.

I'd pay to see Gwoz clock D'antoni upside the head....

Izzo could be on the undercard.

Cole will end up at MSU.....Blashill or Pearson at UM....don't doubt me ever again...haha

The job at skunk valley will be filled long before Blashill could be available. As for Sparty, if I were Cole, I'd tell Hollis what he could do with himself. And State fans got what they deserved after what they did to Comley. Hey, how 'bout making it Miller time. Though it's doubtful they'd do as well as the Granatos.

In all seriousness, the last time State dipped into the Bowling Green well, it seemed to work okay.

I think he already did so, by hinting he would make himself available in an advisory capacity. Think about it, and luxuriate in the delicious, ironic sarcasm.

It's interesting you said that, because there's one camp here that blames the Miller clan for what was "done to" Comley.

Here's my initial list of interviews:

Obvious ones: Danton Cole (if he isn't still ****ed about not getting job last time) and Gwoz
Dark horses (maybe the best choices): Blashill, Nate Leaman, Chris Bergeron,
Long shots (who knows if they even want to coach): Chris Chelios?

Anybody else I'm missing?

Blashill will be available right after the frozen four...not long to wait if the deal is done through back door channels
