Re: Movies! The Last Jedi: Ragnarok

I would disagree with The Departed, but that is a hot topic around these parts. ;)

I will say, even for the people who hated The Departed, they finished the movie. I can't say the same for me and Tropic Thunder. I can sadly say the same for Nothing But Trouble, which I regret to this day.

I like Nothing But Trouble. But yes, they didn't know how to end it. It's Holy Grail-level weak ending.

Re: Movies! The Last Jedi: Ragnarok

Um wasn't Tropic Thunder a farce or at least satire? I don't know if The Departed is the worst, but it's easily Top 5 while TT isn't even in the running.

Re: Movies! The Last Jedi: Ragnarok

The Departed is fine...Tropic Thunder was awful. I saw it for free and wanted my money back.

Re: Movies! The Last Jedi: Ragnarok

Luke may have become a grey Jedi using both light and dark sides.

Yoda said that Jedi use the force only for "knowledge and defense, never attack". Luke force chokes some of Jabba's guards in Return of the Jedi...

Re: Movies! The Last Jedi: Ragnarok

I had no idea.

This would have been a wonderful film, given the director/writer. A3 is actually pretty good as it is, but I really respect Vincent Ward for The Navigator and would have enjoyed this immensely. Plus, David Twohy is a bit of a putz.

Re: Movies! The Last Jedi: Ragnarok

IIRC, I somewhat enjoyed Tropic Thunder when it first came out, but I was 21, and probably drunk. I doubt it would hold up as well with a sober repeat viewing.

It's a fun movie if you're not trying to take it seriously. Go into it with a Zoolander mindset, and you'll enjoy it.

Re: Movies! The Last Jedi: Ragnarok

Saw Justice League tonight which was a letdown. It was wooden and unemotional and the cinematography was bland. The action was sufficient and there was a decent enough plot, but the CGI was atrocious especially with respect to the antagonist and the cyborg. They really should have released an Aquaman movie (like they did with WW) first, but even that might not have been enough to make me care. Also Flash's mannerisms have already been more successfully portrayed by Marvel (think part Ant Man part Spider Man) Not sure why DC so rarely comes as close to matching the Marvel magic factor but after how wonderful WW was this was a disappointment.

He also uses the "power of the dark side" to smash through Vader's defenses at the end. Had it not been for the Emperor's premature gloating, Luke might well have killed Vader; only the Emperor's words cooled Luke's anger.

Obi Wan routinely uses "force crush" in the animated series as well. Considered to be something a Jedi would use almost never.

Zoolander gets funnier with every viewing.

I've said the same thing. THe first time I watched it, I hated it and told my friends who forced me to watch it that they owed me two hours.

Every time I've seen it I laugh harder.
