Hearts of Darkness. Documentary by Eleanor Coppola about the making of Apocalypse Now. Interesting watch

School For Scoundrels.

Always meant to watch this one, forgot about it until it popped on my "Suggested For You" list on Netflix. It was pretty funny. The students in the class were like a who's who of actors who have played nerdy/loser guys in past movies/TV (including Sheldon from Big Bang, which I thought was hilarious, since this movie came out in 2006). Billy Bob was excellent in his role, too. I don't think he gets enough accolades because he's such a weirdo in real life.

Never heard of this. Is it an adaptation of the Sheridan play?

The newest Spiderman movie has been getting really good reviews.

I heard half of a review on it, and the guy was saying the tone is much lighter than the Andrew Garfield movies. The tone works very well, by all accounts.

I will see it this evening.

Taking the family in an hour to go see it in 3D. Coincidentally my company is having a recognition bit next week and I'll get to see it again this time in IMAX with dinner served. Hopefully it's worthy of a 2nd showing so soon after.

Plot is a loser guy takes this super secret class as self-help to get the girl. Trouble is, the teacher falls for the girl in question, also. Game on.

The Salvation:

Western where a man's family is murdered, he murders the killer, unleashing the fury of the local gang leader, blah blah blah. Predictable one-man-against-an-army movie. Meh.

It's good. No 3D for me this time. IMAX though.

Goddam, Logan was a great film. Easily the best Marvel Universe movie to date. Could be the best superhero movie I've seen.

It's what happen when you make a great movie with characters who happen to be mutants instead of trying to make a superhero movie.

Not Marvel Universe. Marvel Characters, yeah, but Marvel sold the X-Men to Fox for movies years ago and no longer own the rights.

Re: Movies: New Ideas Welcome II Prequel Reboot

Huh. Well, in the universe of Marvel characters then.

The Dark Knight is still a personal favorite.

Re: Movies: New Ideas Welcome II Prequel Reboot

Spider Man: Homecoming. Very, very good. The kid is very likable in this role - so much more than Toby ever was (at least for me personally) and there's a bit of a different friend dynamic for him at school than with the previous 2 franchises. Keaton is awesome as the antagonist, plenty of good humor, great tech and special effects, some cool tie-ins to the Avengers (prologue included) and sets up well for whatever sequel they bring. 2 thumbs up!

And the Spiderman post credit scene is epic. That's all I'll say. It's worth the price of admission.

Marvel doesn't own movie rights to Spiderman, Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. Sony signed a deal with Marvel on Spiderman to do this film and allow him to be in the Avengers. Fox has made no such deal with Marvel. Which is why they are still hit and miss on films. Logan good, Apocalypse, horrid, etc. And Fantastic Four has always been a dumpster fire.

I liked the first Fantastic Four movie, but the rest have fallen way short. It kept the tone light without mocking the characters and their situation. The comic book fans didn't like the first one, IIRC, for whatever reason.
