Thirteen Days (about the Cuban missile crisis) is one of my favorite movies ever but iirc I don't think it ever detailed much of the "on the ground" spying that went onto solving that issue. The Courier with Benedict Cumberbatch does:

Wonderfully done on all levels. Strong acting, dialogue and pacing made for a great watching experience and to my detriment I had never heard of this story until I stumbled upon this on one of my flights home. Highly recommend - and if you enjoy movies of this sort you should also watch Thirteen Days if you have not.
After Googling, I fixed your post.

Ii really liked Thirteen Days in spite of Kevin Costner; but it's been *uses abacus* a really long time since I've seen it and may need to re-watch it.

I will definitely be looking to watch The Courier then. The reviews and summaries sound fantastic. And it's currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video!

This is true. Mods have been doing a good job of keeping the BS pretty minimal lately.

Good to hear. My last straw was being literally hushed talking about my Covid experience because the conservative snowflakes over there couldn’t deal with it. Someone that used to post here was the first one asking for me to to shut up because both sidesssss and let’s pretend science isn’t real.

The Right has gotten used to an entirely fictional alternative supply chain of facts, from their media to their politicians to their homeschooling to their "colleges" to their churches.

They live in a killing jar. When anybody puts the real oxygen of facts in they can't handle the exposure. Their entire Weltanschauung depends on their desperate, cowardly self-deception.

To Jupiter's and Greyeagle's credit they simply wanted to keep politics out of it en masse - even if the subject was so seemingly apolitical as wearing a freaking mask. And they have equally clamped down on the mouth-breathers in order to keep the site void of pissing matches. It's not 100% perfect but I respect their wishes and there is still plenty to be found there beyond just sports. Travel, drinking, movies, housing, etc.

And I got to meet a few fellow fans on my one trip to 3M on my trip home to put some friendly faces to names after all these many years. But not being judgy - to each their own.

It’s good they are trying to be more consistent. Last time I was there the usual suspects were still allowed to post pics of Obama in the caption thread lol. It was probably too lax and one side kept pushing so it seemed lopsided.

the fact one can’t talk about symptoms when they had Covid is a testament to some of the people on there though.

My last straw was the George Floyd protests. Good god...

Jup and I are cool though saw him a few months back and he got why I quit.

100% correct. Great movie. Thanks for the rec.

The Harder They Fall - wild west action flick with Idris Elba and Regina King among others. Must see and I highly recommend. It's not flawless but quite entertaining.
