Gf and I watched Enola Holmes on Netflix last night. It was alright, other than Helena Bonham Carter being her usual annoying self.

Meh. When she's good she's good:

Fight Club
Sweeney Todd
The Crown

and when she's bad she's horrible:

Hamlet
Frankenstein
Twelfth Night
Les Mis

She's better the more intimate her roles are. As she becomes bigger she is exposed as obviously incapable.

This is pretty much true of every actress born after 1950, and it's because those actresses are now chosen for either boobs on a stick or quirky/snarky, both of which are very narrow effective niches.

Exceptions: Kate Blanchett and... I can't think of anybody else. Helen Mirren was born in 1945.

Stupid question regarding the stuff that has come to light regarding the BORAT sequel:

How the hell is it legal for Sasha Baron Cohen to pull the pranks he did and then be able to use the footage from those pranks? Especially what happened with Pence at CPAC.

Is it basically a "one party consent" deal with the filming of the situations?

I find it hilarious and will absolutely be watching the movie because it sounds like a hilarious bit of satire just like the original. I'm just curious as to how they were actually able to pull this off...

Well for individuals he gets them to sign this: https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=186aae0f-6039-4a7e-8da3-ca1f9b024f9f

As for CPAC I dont think there is any confidentiality since Pence's speech is broadcast on TV. If they are dumb enough to let him in (and I would assume he had permission to tape as part of the character he plays) they can kick him out but that is about it.

Beyond that though I am sure his lawyers figure out all the loopholes wherever they are.

He supposedly had to hide in the bathroom for five hours At CPAC. Yikes

sarah palin threatened to sue him for his Showtime show, but he never aired her footage.

I'm sure they covered their rears on this... I just find it interesting... Especially since I was on the opposite end of the taking pictures with out permission thing when the Dark Knight was filming in downtown Chicago in the Summer of 06 or 07. Ended up having to deal with a 45 minute ordeal involving Studio people and Chicago PD because I took photos from a public sidewalk down an alley where they were filming the scene where the Gotham Mayor had the assassination attempt done on him. You could clearly see the stage and all the props layed out. The filming wasn't active at that moment however and it was just crew around the set. But still had to get harassed by an overzealous studio dude. Thankfully the cop who the dude brought over seemed to have gotten tired of the studio guy being a dick and basically just made me delete the photos in front of him and then let me go on my way.

In hindsight I probably should/could have held my ground... But I didn't want to deal with that sort of thing and sure as hell didn't have a clue to my rights regarding public right of way and such, so I just did what the officer suggested...

As it relates here, I just figured that anyone that didn't want to be filmed would be able to just not sign the release and that would keep them from using the footage. I'm specifically referencing the scene in the new movie that involves Guliani. I know he's dumber than S*** but I figure there is no way in hell he's signing a release after being filmed in a hotel room.

That is funny because I was just in Chicago and they are filming The Batman and they let all of us sit around and take pictures with the cars and watch the filming as long as we werent in the shot. Had no idea it was happening but was on the train headed to LaSalle Station and read on Twitter they were going to film there that night so we hung around for a while. (missed the actual filming but plenty of people stayed and recorded as they are tonight into this weekend)

Yea, they have been down here all week... I actually like the idea of returning to the LaSalle St. financial district from the astetic/visual look of the film perspective. That particular block has a real down and dirty structure to it and is basically the perfect representation of how Gotham should look, IMO. Just compare Batman Begins/Dark Knight to Rises (shot in Pittsburgh). It's quite jarring.
