So wait...if you dont like Parasite it is because of political reasons? That is a new one to me. Most people I know who didnt like it thought it was just kind of boring.

I can't comment on political stuff, but it was far from boring, unless one only watches stuff that Michael Bay does. ;)

Parasite:

The following review of mine piggybacks another review from a Gopher Puck Live poster, and I have included that poster's post, as I am directly responding to it:

Just watched this. That was EXACTLY the point of the movie, with a secondary point of no matter what class you're in, you're still a parasite. The rich people still needed to clamp on to something/someone else to function.

I thought it was very well done, the continuing theme of "the smell" (I don't want to say too much) being the point of the arrow that is being drawn in this movie. The final shot of the movie really drives home the purpose/message, also. Kudos to every actor/actress in this movie. Not one really stood out. They all were shining performances.

Good lord, if someone didn’t think the main point of thr movie was class in society, what did they think it was about??

I get that not everyone sees the same thing but holy cow how could someone miss that

I'm guessing a simple "scam artist" movie? That's the only other angle I could see being taken.Kinda like "The Hustler" or something. I will admit, though, that'd be a stretch.

Popped in the original Scarface (1932). One instance where the remake was just as good as the original. Modernized, sure, but one kinda has to do that with a 50 year difference in time.

The original was sorta pre-code/censor, so it got away with a lot for its time. Even for today's standards, it's a violent movie.

Re: Movies 52 - 1917: Sonic the Bad Boys of Prey

Agreed. The commentary can add on to its strengths, but even ignoring that it's just a fun story to follow and you honestly don't know where it's going next, which is rare nowadays.

As a lover of old movies I can tell you: it was always rare. Very few of the gems of the past didn't telegraph where they were going. I don't mean a gimmicky twist, but where the whole movie changes dramatically midway through. There are a few ("Lady from Shanghai" blew me away when I first saw it) but movies are almost always on a model railroad where you can see the whole route right from the start.

Spoiler: Parasite starts out as Ocean's 11 and finishes up as Saw, and I did not see that sh-t coming.

Re: Movies 52 - 1917: Sonic the Bad Boys of Prey

The "off the rails" to Parasite was indeed ***. I'm looking at it like a "Get Out" or as you said "Ocean's Eleven," maybe a "Confidence."

But, then....alright, here we go.

Are you telling me a Anne Hathaway / Ben Affleck project isn't Citizen Kane? Say it's not so.

Speaking of Ben Affleck, does literally ever actor get the "teach disadvantaged kids how to play basketball (because they really need help from a rich white guy on that)" movie at some point in their careers?

What Buscemi could do with that.

Re: Movies 52 - 1917: Sonic the Bad Boys of Prey

That movie wasnt awful...mainly because it is way darker than you expect and the ending is not exactly as cliche as the previews make it out to be. Actually you think it is going exactly where the previews make it seem until you realize you are only like an hour into the film

(I am speaking of the Affleck Basketball Film)

In that vein, nobody will ever top Brad Pitt Jesus for White Savior in Twelve Years a Slave. He's even a carpenter.

"I'm the producer so I get to come in for 15 seconds and save everyone."

Angel Has Fallen:
Mike Banning is framed for the attempted assassination of the President and must evade his own agency and the FBI as he tries to uncover the real threat.

Great main cast, but paint by numbers conspiracy. You can pick out the villains before the hero does, you know how it ends, it's a matter of how it gets there.

Grab some popcorn, forget about life for a while. It won't challenge you, but it's entertaining.

Not in this series. Angel Has Fallen < London Has Fallen <<<<<<< Olympus Has Fallen
