Pi: Mathematician descends into obsession and madness as he tries to find apparently random but meaningful and predictable patterns in pi and complex systems.
I saw this for the first time about ten years ago and was underwhelmed, but I was concentrating more on the math and theory. This time I watched it more from a sympathetic viewpoint of the main actor, and was really drawn in. I think this may be one of those movies that is "better than it looks" (typically the reverse is true). I haven't enjoyed any of Aronofsky's later work, so I think he might have frankly gotten lucky with this piece, or the interesting elements may have been added by other people on the crew. Anyway, A minus.
