Re: Movie Thread: New, Rental, Streaming

12 Years A Slave: Very well done. The very beginning seemed disjointed, but it was because there wasn't a linear timeline, it made sense as the movie went along. The story was told very well, and it was a very moving story. The acting was excellent.

I have seen all but 1 2013 Oscar Best Picture nominees now. The only one I've yet to see is Philomena. I wouldn't rate this as my favorite, I think it would be 4th. Behind Nebraska, Her and Dallas Buyer's Club.

Just got Whiplash today. Plan on seeing that and Nebraska (which is streaming) this weekend. Now that work has seemed to calm down, I am able to watch more movies.

Saw "American: The Bill Hicks Story," a doc on his life. Learned some new things, they did avoid the Denis Leary controversy, which I was equally pleased with/disappointed in. Very well done.

I need to see whiplash. I'm a crazy classical and jazz band nerd. I feel much shame that I have not watched it.

Philomena was great :)

Re: Movie Thread: New, Rental, Streaming

Well, duh.

Only scene I have seen is him sleeping the hell out of the drummer. I've wanted to do that soooooooooo many times.

"WERE YOU RUSHING, OR DRAGGING!?"

My fave scene of him is still the final scene in "Burn After Reading." Didn't really like the movie until THAT scene. THAT scene, like The Dude's rug, tied it ALL together. Helluva acting job.

I just want to understand this, sir. Every time a rug is micturated upon in this fair city, I have to compensate the owner?

Just got my blu-ray copy of Copland. It was playing on AMC or some such last week, but I just couldn't watch it, cause pretty much every other word was bleeped. So I bought it. $5.

Maybe Stallone's best performance.

Besides Rocky IV, of course.
