Robin Williams was excellent in that role (along with 24 Hour Photo, IIRC). He really changed directions later in his career. It has been years since I've seen it, too.
Elite Squad: The Enemy Within
Apparently this is the third movie in a trilogy. I did not know that until the movie started (the subtitles said "Elite Squad 2" and imdb said this was part of a trilogy, when I looked it up afterwards). Unfortunately, Netflix doesn't have the first two on streaming, so I'll have to see if they have them on disc.
Brazilian movie about a straight cop rising up in the ranks of a very corrupt military police force in Rio de Janeiro. I thought it was very well done, and didn't gloss over some of the workings of a corrupt organization, also not going over the top while showing the corruption. Definitely worth a watch.

Doc about Roger Ebert. I disagreed with many of his reviews*, and as a dumb kid, grew up thinking his show was a tv money grab/farce. I tell you this: it got dusty really quick when watching this doc. Yes, a bit of a suck-up job, but he deserved it. The gleam in his eye when they started talking movies or his wife...you could tell the passion he had. Amazing, wonderful movie. Must see.
*They showed clips of some past reviews of movies, and he dissed "Three Amigos" and "Nat'l Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." That was a big peeve of mine: often he didn't review movies for what they were, especially stupid banal comedies.

Fish Tank

It was okay, then it turned ALL THE CREEPY (and not in a horror/terror way). That being said, really no point to the movie; kind of a slice of life movie, which CAN be good but it's often times difficult to pull off. This movie didn't pull it off. And did I mention THE CREEPY?! Ish.

Stop At Nothing: The Lance Armstrong Story
Amazing. Simply amazing. I was a LeMond fan growing up (used to bike in HS; did charity rides quite often). During the "good" Lance years, I thought LeMond was one of those old bitter athletes that didn't want their accomplishments bested. I could not have been more wrong. This documentary makes me want to personally write a letter of apology to him. The detail in this doc is quite astounding. Interviews, etc....much detail. They left no stone unturned.

This movie is the best I have seen from him so far, and is more than garden variety surrealism. It's very 60's, and for my money the end is a cop out, but as a weird little parable it stands up with Fellini, at about 1/5th the length. Solid B, and a little extra credit for not being gratuitously weird.

Logan's Run. I guess it was all the rage at the time but for me it didn't hold up well and I'm not sure I would have felt differently even then.
Citizen X - 1995. Missed this one completely somehow. Story of a serial killer in Russia. A soviet detective suspects a member of the party and he's obstructed the entire way as bureaucrats insist a party member could never be responsible. Quite riveting with great performances from Stephen Rea and Jeffrey DeMunn. Donald Surherland and Max Von Sydow don't hurt either. Highly recommend.

It was pure cheese even when it came out. It's loved because it's wonderful trash, not despite it.

CIA guy comes back to protect a witness/fellow spy. Things don't go as planned. Cliche, cliche, stereotype assassin (but she's female! So it's DIFFERENT!), action sequence, cliche, twist, cliche, twist, DOUBLE-TWIST!!!!, cliche, happy ending.
Executed well, given those parameters, though. I guess that's something.

Christ, you watch way more movies than I do! During college hockey offseason, I probably average 5-6 a week. That will probably go up this year, since I don't have cable anymore, so Netflix is my prime source for viewing.
