Also see: The Green Mile. I was expecting an uplifting story. My gf at the time insisted it was an inspiring movie. Um, no. Much depress. Many sad.

Agreed. I had someone argue "But don't you see that the old man was given such a great gift from him?"

Yeah, the great gift of seeing everyone he ever cared for die long ago. His only friend is a friggen mouse.

Pretty much, yeah. Oh, and anyone who lived, lived at the cost of his pain. Wonderful.

Movies like this have prevented me from seeing "Leaving Las Vegas," and I KNOW that's a depressing movie. "So....weekend's here....do I feel suicidal? Yeah? Ok, let's watch THAT."

True. Although I'd consider two movies I've seen recently to be "heartwarming" in general, but also tear-jerkers: "The Way" w/Martin Sheen, and "The Music Never Stopped" w/JK Simmons. Highly recommend both.

Doing a movie night with a couple of adult friends and their kids. Kids are about 6 and older. What do you recommend that can appeal to both kids and adults?
 
Saw Bridge of spies on Friday. Very entertaining especially if you remember the cold war.

There are plenty to choose from, yes, but that's the best. There's an emotion deep down inside that none of the other scenes have.

Also it's crazy that movie is only 102 minutes long.

Yeah the kids will like any of them, and even the adults too. But I think that one has the best balance, but I'm sure everyone else has strong opinions on which is their favorite. Heck, group debates over best Pixar movie are more heated than debates over politics and religion.

The Pixar ones as suggested are always good. Could always go an older Disney. My personal favorite is The Sword in the Stone. The Sandlot, Fantastic Mr Fox, James and the Giant Peach, Nightmare Before Christmas could all be fun. And of course, The Lego Movie!

If you're not a Stiller hater Night At The Museum always wins in our house, as does Jurrasic Park, Shrek and Toy Story.
