Re: Movie Thread #50: Godzilla gives us permission to nuke our enemies

Imported from the Apollo 11 thread.

I'd have a lot of trouble looking at Hanks' slack-jawed corn-fed face for 2 hours.

Actually... yikes, I have never seen a Tom Hanks movie all the way through, unless you count the Toy Story series. He's so... god, he sucks.

Hard No from the Trailer: Cast Away, The Terminal, Big, Philadelphia, Sully, Sleepless in Seattle, Catch Me if You Can, You've Got Mail, The Burbs, The Ladykillers, Extremeley Loud and Incredibly Close, Nothing in Common, Every Time We Say Goodbye, My Big Fat Greek Wedding

What Do You Think?: Turner and Hooch

Nothing Against It, Just Didn't Bother: Splash, Cloud Atlas, Road to Perdition, The Post, Captain Phillips, The Man with One Red Shoe, The Green Mile

I've never even heard of any of these movies: Saving Mr. Banks, A Hologram for the King, Larry Crowne, Punchline, The Great Buck Howard, He Knows You're Alone

Saw pieces, was unimpressed: Forrest Gump, The Da Vinci Code series, Bridge of Spies, The Bonfire of the Vanities

Saw pieces, to be honest it did not suck: The Money Pit, Joe Versus the Volcano

Didn't see because Tom Hanks sucks but I should anyway: Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan

Oh... wait. Yes, I have seen five Big Fat Loser Tom Hanks movie all the way through:

Saw, liked: A League of Their Own, That Thing You Do, Charlie Wilson's War, Volunteers

Saw, hated
: Dragnet

What, no decision on the Tom Hanks cinematic masterpiece Turner and Hooch? :D

Sadly, or not, the list I saw neglected to include it. Amended below.

Well if Cranky Old Man doesnt like Tom Hanks it further proves he is national treasure :D

You're a heathen if you can't appreciate: Castaway, Big, Philadelphia, Splash, Road to Perdition, Captain Phillips, The Green Mile, Bridge of Spies

They're not masterpieces but ffs

For someone who likes to stress there is no arguing taste you sure are insecure about defending yours. :p

Remember when he yelled at me and accused me of liking Michael bay movies because I said lala land sucked. LOL. I thought I broke him for a minute

Actually just saw Saving Mr. Banks a couple days ago. Liked it. Quite the cast. Hanx, Emma Thompson, Bradley Whitford, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, BJ Novak, Colin Farrell, Kathy Baker, Rachel Griffiths.

Most of Cast Away is quite good. Just stop watching when he gets off the island. (No, that isn't a spoiler - it was in the freaking trailer!)

Wha? The post-island part of what ties it together.

Don't project, Kep. ;)

No, no. I'm the one who believes there are objective standards of aesthetics. I believe some things are demonstrably better than others; Verdi > Alban Berg. I'd never argue you can't debate taste. Of course you can.

I'm a dick, but not a hypocrite.

Of course Kepler hates Hanks. He wouldn't be Kepler if he didn't. :p

There's a flaw, though. I like Clooney a lot and near as I can tell the Great Unwashed regard them as the same.

I even watched a RomCom with Clooney in it (it was good, too).

Re: Movie Thread #50: Godzilla gives us permission to nuke our enemies

Was the romcom "Up in the Air"? Because honestly that's Clooney at his best.
