Re: Movie Thread #50: Godzilla gives us permission to nuke our enemies

Which one Hulu or Netflix? I've heard both are excellent. But Netflix has the guy willing to do things for bottled water...

The Netflix one....hooboy. And yeah, I was laughing at all the "influencers" etc.

Re: Movie Thread #50: Godzilla gives us permission to nuke our enemies

I'd never heard of this! I must check it out; thanks for the tip.

Lol. It’s not good. It’s not on most lists for a reason. It’s like Oliver and Company for me. Sentimental favorite, not actually good.

I can't stand Fantasia. I want to like it, I swear, but it's like listening to paint dry.

Correct.

Re: Movie Thread #50: Godzilla gives us permission to nuke our enemies

Fantasia is freaky. The broom scene gives me the heebie-jeebies.

And I stand by Robin Hood. It's a very fun movie.

Wasn’t George of the Jungle a Disney film??

The Hulu one has the actual con man interviewed which is why I like it better.

Re: Movie Thread #50: Godzilla gives us permission to nuke our enemies

Tarantino Once Upon a Time. A+ as usual. Only going to get better with repeated viewings. Really fun and clever, but like all his movies also a lot more which I've just scratched the surface of so far.

They both have issues because of who they partnered with (there is no truly independent doc) but you can easily watch both and decide for yourselves. Either way, Billy and co come off as absolute trash who deserve to spend many years in a federal pound-me-in-the-*** prison.

Truth.

Disney has set the record for most money grossed at the theater. And it's only July. Lion King just opened. And Frozen II and Star Wars IX are still to come.

The Irishman will be released on Netflix in October.

Looks great!

Scorsese is a national treasure.

Interesting from Wiki:

The Irishman is an upcoming American biographical crime film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Steven Zaillian, based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt. The film stars Robert De Niro as Frank Sheeran, a labor union leader and alleged hitman for the Bufalino crime family, and Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa. Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel, Anna Paquin, Bobby Cannavale, and Ray Romano also star. It is the ninth feature collaboration between De Niro and Scorsese and their first since 1995's Casino, the fourth film to star both De Niro and Pacino (following The Godfather Part II, Heat, and Righteous Kill), and the first time Pacino has been directed by Scorsese.

Interesting from Wiki:

Pretty surprising that Scorsese hadn’t worked with Pacino before.

I can’t Recommend the book this is based on enough. When Sheeran talks the air of authenticity is incredible. It’s like Henry Hill’s Wiseguys but better because Sheeran was higher up due to his friendship with mob boss Russell buffalino.
