Motorsports 2026

Glad to see the Cadillacs have picked up the pace to the mid-field, but dissapointed to see the gains fell apart in qualifying this afternoon.

Looked like a lot of teams struggled with qualifying this afternoon as well. Gambling on wet setups for tomorrow?

Front row for the GP tomorrow haven’t had great starts this season. Should get interesting immediately.
I don't know what Kimi and Max are doing, but they cannot figure out starts with this car. At this point it's either yips or just something they can't fundamentally do correctly. Which is funny to say for Max who is about as calculated as a racer can be.

Learned today that NASCAR didn't stop using leaded gasoline until 2007.

And that it's still used in small piston jet fuel.
You mean av fuel. There's no lead, or even need of lead, in jet fuel. Let alone a small piston jet, chuckle...

Stupid for NASCAR to wait- it's not as if an engine failure will cause a 5000ft glide to a controlled crash. But aviation is very conservative, and the engines are still technically very old. Kind of a bad excuse that they have not forced hardened valve seats into plane engines, but that's it....

I do remember that you could easily get leaded racing gas in the early 2000s, And a project I worked on that was a race Baja truck used leaded fuel.... In an engine that we (F) supplied to them that was totally developed on unleaded gas...

What a fun race to watch! The drama of the start, Lawson being an idiot, the battling for positions after pitstops. Verstappen going 49 laps on one set of tires. And then the last lap with Leclerc spinning!

Can't wait for the post-race press quotes from the drivers who hated this race. 😒

That was fun. Red Bull didn’t have the finish they want, but if they figure out starts they’re in the mix. This time it appeared to be driver errors. Max with too much throttle and Isack kissing a barrier.

Sorry, triple post.

Stewards determined Lawson’s gearbox malfunctioned and he isn’t to blame for ramming Gasly.

Lawson being an idiot
The more I watch the replay, the more I think that was on Gasly.

Gasly made a huge dive on the outside. Then had to turn in. But Lawson was already committed to his braking point, suddenly sees Gasly on the outside turning in. Yes, technically Gasly was ahead, but it's not like Lawson could brake earlier because he was already past his braking point when Gasly finished his not totally completed move. What was Lawson to do? He can't brake any harder without locking up (which is actually what he did) and he can't go back in time and acquire ESP knowing he had to brake earlier, because he didn't know Gasly was going to make that move, since it came so late.

Gasly put Lawson in an impossible position. And at that point, it was inevitable that Lawson was going to hit him.

But to your main point, that was a really entertaining race.

Now that I've seen the replays a few times, I agree. I will admit that I missed seeing it live as my feed crapped out before that and made the judgement solely on commentary I saw on social media and the lap-by-lap feed on the F1 website.

I laughed at Sainz spouting off about Max having to beat and bang on everything thinking the midfield would just roll over for him, and Max's reply that the midfield was "a jungle." 😂

Also seemed like a LOT of teams were having gearbox issues. Wasn't Antonelli having problems too, and he won!

Max isn't wrong...

Kimi did complain about the paddles/shifting.
