Very true. I would too. But without other schools with great tradition it's hollow. Why is the SEC the top football conference in the country right now? Top to bottom schools with great tradition and hatred for one another. If only one school had it it would be meaningless.
And the beauty of tradition is it is always there and doesn't need to be spoken. You say Minnesota Hockey and everyone knows what you're talking about. Barfing it all over the place diminishes it.

Look at how long Michigan went between titles. Your point is meaningless.
However, it does show, once again, you will go to any length to try and delegitamize the accomplishments of the Gopher program. So congrats on that.

Holy sh1t!! They beat four college hockey teams??? In ONE year??? Why didn't you point that out before?? Wow! They beat four college hockey teams in one year. I'm so amazed by that incredible fact that I keep repeating myself. Four!! It's really hard to keep typing this from the position I have prostrated myself into, facing Mecca or Minneapolis or wherever I'm facing in supplication to what could only be sanely described as not only the best hockey team to have ever taken to the ice, but what obviously was the greatest team to ever play any sport, any where, at any time, against any competition. Or that ever will at any time in the future, that is certainly clear. I can't imagine any other team ever beating four college hockey teams again in one season. All hail the Gophers!!

Imagine just how riled up he would be with anything more than a one game differential. Where else is WI ahead? Wins vs. losses? Nope. Tourney appearances? No. Tradition? Nada.
And you know what happens to the WCHA if just WI leaves...nobody really notices. Sorry.

remember the part of UW not having history since they re-started in the 60's? yeah that
wins/loss record matters but not nearly as much as NCAA Titles (to me at least). tourney appearances matter even more but still less than titles. Wisconsin has made the most of their "short" and "historically insignificant" time in NCAA Hockey: 24 appearances w/50% of that time reaching the frozen four @ 12. of the 12 times they made it they advanced 9x (75%) and in 9 games they're 6-3 for 66%. I'll take that over the rats.

Dude, you have issues. I want ZERO part of your argument with JDUBBS about which team has more titles. I just chimed in when people started talking about the championship banners in Mariucci Arena. And if I knew you and others were going to jump down my throat for offering my viewpoints, I probably wouldn't have bothered.
Yes, I think the 1940 Gopher hockey team was a great team. And yes, I think that team and those players deserve to have their championship banner displayed as prominently as our other championship teams.
That doesn't mean I am trying to compare Minnesota to Wisconsin or vice versa. If you want to pound your chest and say 6>5, that's fine by me. Just don't put words in my mouth or compare me to a troll whose behavior more closely mirrors yours than mine.
You're doing exactly what he wants by getting all bent out of shape about this. Does it really matter what JDUBBS thinks about UW? Does it really matter what Gopher fans think about our 1940 championship? UW is a great program, with great history, and nothing JDUBBS or anyone else says will change that.
I have certainly NEVER said anything disparagingly about UW, so please leave me out of this.

Yeah, sorry about that. I think this one is all on me. A little suprised it worked so effectively.
He's right. He can go on forever. 52k is a pretty good example, and those weren't all from the association threads. I used to go at it with him in political threads until I learned better.

Think of it this way, barfing it all over the place doesn't diminish it. It spreads the warmth and fills in all the little nook and crannies. Ugh... okay, that one may have been a bit over the line.

FS23 and I already discussed this in a thread I created.
I expressed my opinion on numerical rankings for a subjective item. It was an opinion. Mine. And I didn't creat my own rankings, again, because I think it's a waste of time.
I have since dropped the topic and haven't posted in FS23's threads in quite a while. You, on the other hand, can't seem to leave me alone.
