If you aren't allowed to cheer a big hit or goal by the home team, they may as well just stop letting fans into games. There is nothing wrong with replaying anything they've shown in those videos. While Jacobs is correct with many of his suggestions, he's completely off his rocker with this one.

I love the numerous comments along the lines of, "But other people act like this in other arenas!" :rolleyes:

Are you suggesting that if this same type of editorial were in a Minneapolis paper that the comments wouldn't be exactly the same?

Because they would, and you know it. Sheep are everywhere. :p :)

That's a big hypothetical, considering that although there are vulgar fans at the Mooch who behave like cavepeople, they have a loooooooooooooong ways to go to catch up to the number of people who act like that at Engelstad.

But yeah, I won't dispute that this world is full of sheep. :)

And for the record, the price of tea in China today is about 5 cents/cup. :rolleyes:

But I will throw in the fact that I've been to over 100 games at Mariucci, and 6 games at the new REA as well as 3 or 4 at the old REA, so I'm not basing this off speculation. I try to be somewhat objective, even if I wore my Gopher jersey to a UND game when I was 12 years old and had a full glass of soda thrown on me from the upper deck as we were leaving, only to look up and see several adults high-fiving one another over it. But I digress...

I believe ketchup packets were thrown in this incident as well....MEg and tDarkness can elaborate further...

So you say that when you are at Marriucci and wear a Gopher jersey, no one bothers you. But when you're at Engelstad and wear a Gopher jersey, people do bother you. Shocking! Of course that's the case. When I go to games at Engelstad I'm not bothered. When I go to games at the NHC I am.

The Old Ralph didn't have an upper deck. :p
Unless you are 18 yo or younger now and are talking about the New REA. ;)

Bothering someone and throwing a full beverage on a child are two very different things. I expect someone with even your level of intelligence to understand that. :p

Including MEg's incident at Mariucci, I still think you'd be hard-pressed to compare the overall number of incidents/level of crude behavior during a game at the REA to the same occurrences at Mariucci.

Well it came from above me. Beyond a railing of some sort at least. I remember seeing the guys laughing it up through a railing. Maybe they were on the concourse level. You'll have to excuse the hazy memory, it was 18 years ago that it happened. :)

That happened against Tech. You're telling me that the student section is worse to Tech fans then Sioux or Badger fans?

The behavior of two or three does not speak for everyone else.

Now if it was just two or three people in UND's arena, we might be talking apples to apples.

But yes, no matter how many, they should be kicked out. I seem to remember a vast outpouring of apologies from Gopher fans on here after that incident as well, proclaiming those few people to be morons and not real fans, etc. The response from GF seems to be more along the lines of, "Everyone else does it, what's the big deal?"
