Wooger had some great calls tonight. Anyone catch some of his beauties?

He said " I wouldn't want to be in a dark room with Budish Frank" He was talking about how big he is.

The other was something about "all the ducks being in one blind" but i can't remember exactly what he was getting at.

Anyway nice to see the Gophers show up to play for at least one game this weekend. The 2nd half of the 3rd period was some great hockey with up and down the rink action and chances at both ends. I thought Patterson looked good tonight as well.

Wow Lucia is a piece of work. The first guy to grab someone from behind and put them in a headlock but the VERY last guy to go with someone face to face.

And let me this ask this of all the Gopher fans out there...You do know that Doug Woog is senile, right? I mean, there isn't anybody out there who listens to him and says, "Hey, thats a real valid point you just made Doug Woog." Am I right or am I just over estimating Minnesota hockey fans?

I watched the replay of last night's game this afternoon and while Woog was making a few excuses for the Gophers, he was pretty much telling it like it was. Why does everyone hate him so much? He's hilarious.

Woog does have a way with words, but he does get his point across, and it's usually spot-on. His knowledge is immense, but he just has a peculiar way of getting the point across.

Wooger knows a lot about hockey and he does know what he is talking about. I was just bringing up some of his "woogisms" They are always funny.

No, no. Doug Woog DID know alot about hockey. But booze and old age has caught up to him and now its bascailly just random sentences that come out of his mouth. Hell, most of what he says now has nothing to do with the game. Him and Frank will talk for 10 minutes about Doug's last dentist appointment. And why would any Minnesotan defend him him? He literally ran your team into the ground for 10 years.

Do you even know the sport of hockey? Wooger can run circles around most announcers even with "booze and old age" catching up to him. Frank The Rug is another matter, but don't besmirch the Wooger. He's grade A material. Hell, many Sioux fans (yes, THOSE people) agree with me.

Nice bounce back for the Maroon and Gold. And UND coming back from down late to tie it was also sweet. One of those games that both teams are feeling like they should have won.

Genoway: genius on skates. Increasingly he reminds me of Curt Giles in his UMD-then-North Stars-days.

His second goal tonight was great.

Speaking of which, in the pre-game highlight video that goal by the Hrkac Circus is plain not fair. That goal is absolutely amazing.

I honestly cannot believe I just saw a living, breathing human being write that about Doug Woog. First of all, no. No North Dakota fans would ever agree with you. For North Dakota fans, Doug is a joke and we laugh about him daily. Second, one time Doug blamed a U of M loss to UND on the fact that the Gophers average age was half a year younger and that meant UND had more stamina and that was the reason for UND winning. He actually said that on TV.

And people make mistakes. And you must frequent SS.com. The Sioux fans I know (even when disagreeing with Wooger) love the Wooger. Take off the green and white glasses. He rips the Gophers when justified (and even then he is sometimes wrong; see the first part of this post). He calls them like he sees them, and explains how the play(s) develop(s) so that the average hockey fan can understand it.

And if you think the Wooger is a joke, then you are well beneath any level of competence when it comes to hockey.

Also, a few years ago, when Joe Finley pulled Blake Wheeler out of a handshake to **** pound him after the game, Doug Woog said, "You think Joe Finley would do something a little more manly then tug on Wheeler's jersey." Wheeler was hitting the brakes and clearly wanted nothing to do with it. He looked like a cat getting thrown in the bath tub as he coward away from the fight, yet in Doug Woog's mind, it was Finley who was the coward.

Green and white glasses my ***. I'm hockey fan first and I watch the Gophers when the Sioux aren't on. And he does not rip the Gophers when needed and he does not explain for the average fan. I watch games with my wife and she has no clue what the f he is trying to say. She knows little about hockey and even she can tell he is clueless. Sometimes she asks me why the two anouncers aren't talking about the game. Many times, she will turn to me and say, "Was that sentence?" after Doug tries to explain something that just happened. I mean that 100%, not even pulling the UND card. I watch a lot of hockey and I am pretty knowledgable about the game and I can honestly say he is the worst color guy I have ever heard.

There is no way you can be this ignorant. No way. Heck, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt here, and I still can't believe it. Sagissor (sp?) for WI (well, he's recently left), Sonmor/Shaver (TERRIBLE homers, and this is from a MN fan, obviously), and for non-hockey: Skip Caray, Hawk Harrelson ring a bell? Dare I even mention Bob Norton for general ignorance/stupidity in the sport he's supposed to be an expert in?

Wooger is great. You may disagree with him, but that is much different than recognizing what he brings to the game via announcing.

And back to my question about getting out much, this has to be a Candid Camera thing. You're looking to get a rise out of me. Well, you failed. I just love hearing myself type. Ask Dirty. :D
