MLB 2025: The Dodgers vs The Field

My hype song for the Mets (2-8) going into Milwaukee (9-1) tonight:

Where would they move to? There’s not really a major market that would be better than the Twin Cities.
It's pretty crappy attendance for a typically strong team. In fact, they remind me of somebody. To make it worthwhile, you would want a market where they would rarely drop below 10 and normally live around 7. Is there anywhere available that could do that?

Mexico City would, but man that is a risk, like trying to run a franchise in Havana. Charlotte or Nashville, probably. San Antonio or Austin maybe but I'm sure the Rangers and Astros would veto them.

The Twins are currently tied to their lease until 2039, and last January word was out that they were actually trying to get an extension on it for another 15 years or so.

I’m just spitballing here but, it seems like this has a lot more to do with the Twins tough to sell right now more than anything because:

A) The Pohlads business debts/losses they’ve supposedly put on the Twins books.

B) The impending MLB lockout.

Ding ding ding

I don’t think Relo is a thought right now

Relative to their average division finish and lack of playoff success their attendance has mostly been generous. Going back to 1996 (29 seasons including 2025):

-Will have made the playoffs only 9 times (31%)
-Will have had 1 series playoff win total
-Averaged finishing just under 3rd out of 5 in their division which is historically one of the weakest in the AL
-Averaged 20th for total payroll in MLB
-Yet still averaged just under the 9th best in MLB for attendance, and 7.6th since moving to Target field where their average order of finish has been 3.2 or even worse despite being given a taxpayer funded stadium with promises they would spend to win

By the way their average attendance per win was over 40,000 between 2011-2014 despite finishing 5th, 5th, 4th and 5th

Fact is the fans have grown tired of the owners refusing to invest in a winning roster that not only consistently makes the playoffs but occasionally freaking wins when they do get there.

Yep. All of this.
