MLB 2024: robot umps, please

AL Wild Card race still has 7 teams remaining with 6 games left.

Baltimore +4
Kansas City 0 (owns tiebreak over Detroit)
Detroit 0
Minnesota -1 (owns tiebreak over Detroit)
Seattle -2
Boston -4
Tampa -4

Baltimore and Minnesota play each other to end the year. Detroit and Tampa play during the week. Then Boston and Tampa play to end the year.

This tells me the Mariners would likely be a playoff team if the White Sox weren’t historically bad. That’s so Mariners.

My argument has been that with the new balanced schedule the AL Central actually lost out on piling up wins against Chicago. But, while each team lost on 5-6 games against Chicago they also lost out on another 20ish games beating up each other, which also hurts Seattle. So… yeah, That’s So Mariners.

I know the White Sox are historically bad, but feel more anxious against the White Sox than I do against any other team. When the Tigers were that bad they still found a way to win the last few games that season to not break the record. It isn't the same thing, but pride still must be there for the players in Chicago.

White Sox hold off infamy for at least one more game and score three in the 8th to beat LAA 3-2. Still at 120 losses with the Mets.

Tigers and Royals got a little breathing room yesterday with wins and the Twins and Mariners losing. Now a two game lead over Minnesota and 2.5 over Seattle.

White Sox hold off infamy again and beat the Angels in extras.

Braves and Mets postponed yesterday and today due to the hurricane. If there are playoff implications for those two games after Sunday, which pretty good chance there is, they’ll have to meet Monday for a doubleheader. It’s possible the Mets play in Milwaukee Sunday, then Atlanta Monday for two, and then go to San Diego on Tuesday for the playoffs.

Saw the highlights from the Oakland Colosseum's last game. One of my favorite games I've ever watched was there- I worked at Chevron in the summer of 1989 and went to a few games at Oakland. Will never forget the game- a real pitchers dual between Dave Stuart and Mark Gubicza- 1-0 for the As. It was really exciting, even with so very few hits. Good memory for Oakland.

White Sox avoid 121 again and finish sweep of Angels. Only their 2nd series sweep of the season I think. They have a chance to do the funniest thing ever. Sweeping the Tigers to avoid the record outright and keeping the tigers from the playoffs.

It might not matter as the T's are doing everything in their power to make their early tee times.

On the other side of that, the Tigers can give the White Sox loss 121 and clinch the playoffs, all with Benetti on the call who the White Sox let go because they wouldn’t release him to work some football on the weekends.

With the Twins losing and the magic number down to 1, this scenario is now in play for the entire weekend.

You’d think immediately having the worst season collapse in the team’s 64 year history after cutting payroll $30M would be sign enough, but I doubt it.
