Are the Bucs mathematically eliminated yet?
Dude
Too soon. Too soon.
Pick a date when deGrom's ERA climbs above 1.50
No reason to watch the Twins tonight. Cave can't hit an infielder with a throw and Odorizzi cant throw a strike.
Chris Davis is now 0-44.
The futility mark is within reach.
Bergen was a fine defensive catcher whose dubious claim to fame was his offensive ineptitude. No one played in the major leagues as long as Bill Bergen and hit so poorly. Bergen had 3,028 career at-bats, during which he compiled a batting average of .170 (516/3028), a record low for players with more than 2,500 plate appearances. Pitchers are traditionally the weakest-hitting player in the lineup, yet three hurlers with more than 2,500 plate appearances accrued higher career batting averages than Bergen: Pud Galvin with .201, Bobby Mathews with .203, and Cy Young with .210. Among position players (non-pitchers), the next lowest career batting average is Billy Sullivan with .213[2] (a remarkable .043 differential). Bergen's career on-base percentage (OBP) was .194—he is the only player with at least 500 at-bats who tallied an OBP under .200. During five of his major league seasons, both his OBP and slugging percentage were under .200. He hit only two home runs in his career—and both were inside-the-park. In 1909, Bergen hit .139, the lowest average in history for a player with the minimum number of plate appearances to qualify for the batting title.[3] Throughout his 3,229 career plate appearances, Bergen was never hit by a pitch, a major league record that stood for over 85 years until broken by Mark Lemke in 1997.
In 1909, Bergen set another record for futility with a span of 46 consecutive at-bats without a base hit, the longest streak ever by a position player (non-pitcher). The record stood until 2011 when it was broken by Eugenio Vélez[4] (who also, coincidentally, played for the Dodgers). From 1904 to 1911, Dodger pitchers as a group outhit Bergen, .169 to .162.
Davis is in the fourth season of a $161 million, seven-year contract.
He hit .168 last year, the worst batting average in major league history for a qualified player, with 16 home runs, 49 RBIs and a .539 OPS.
With 3 more years and $69 mil left on that contract.
The O's are soooo glad they signed that deal.
We're playing the Twins in April? The f-ck is that?
At least it's in Queens. High of 60 tomorrow. I assume Minny is still sub-zero.
It's actually in the 60's today, but we are expected to get slammed with a big snowstorm later in the week of course.
80 here tomorrow. Nothing sadder than an 80 degree day before the F4.
Anyway, you can't fool me about 60 in MN. I know that's when the flies and mosquitoes the size of 747s hit. I've been to Maine. You never want to hit those permafrost farmholes with direct sunlight -- that's how alien chestbursters spontaneously generate.

Sagnasty is the same way. My summer gig when I was home from Tech was for the county mosquito control. Relatively flat lowlands (some of which are protected wetlands that are illegal to treat) + nice soaking rain that leaves standing water everywhere + about a week of sun = goodnight Irene.
Saginaw had a Civil War fort that was abandoned a year after it was built due to the malaria problems from the mosquitoes.
It’s a our state bird.If it's any consolation I've been told Alaska is 100x worse. On the 8 nice days all year the bioraptors feast.
