Going to Fenway tonight. My first game there since before my ankle surgery. It's the last game of the ticket allotment I have and I really wanted to make it to one game before the season ends. Carl Yastrzemski will be there to see his grandson Mike play for the Giants. How old am I that I remember going to many games when Yaz was a player????

My first thought was "so, he was 22 and she was 17 and..."

Nope! The allegation is he was having sex with her when he was 26 and she was... drum roll... 13.

That's Republican Senatorial conduct right there. If it's true the end of his baseball career is about 187 on his list of worries.

Rumor has it he had a special relationship with his sister as well. As in "Roll Tide" special.

All the way over in flyover prairie midwest, Yas was my boyhood hero. Kept his bat in my room.

The Minnesota Twins are the first team to have five players with 30+ dingers. Sano's 482' moonshot got them there.

After 3 in Chi, Darvish has 8 Ks. Gave up 3 runs in first 4 batters, though, including 1 hr. I wonder how many teams are setting records for both home runs and strikeouts.

Edit: Now 11 Ks through 4.

He got all of it. Could tell as soon as it left the bat.

Rules question - Sam Travis pinch hit for JD Martinez. He’s running to third for triple, slides head first. The cut off throw from the shortstop clocks him in the back of the head. Looks like it knocked him out for a second. Took him out of the game. Since he was pitch hitting for the DH, does that mean the pitcher has to come out of the game?

No. Another player assumes the DH slot. The pitcher only bats if the DH goes to the field.

DH and Pitcher occupy the same slot in the batting order. DH and the pitcher for whom he is hitting for can never play defense at the same time since MLB only allows for DH of pitcher only.

You can come up with a convoluted defensive switch where a DH plays the field:

Current pitcher (whom DH is hitting for) removed from game. 1st baseman goes to pitch, DH moves to 1B. You still have the same 9 guys batting. Your DH is hitting for himself in this scenario instead of for someone else. All subs for the remainder of the game are straight up.
