MLB 2019: Every Year at Playoff Time, The Dodgers Find A Way to Choke.

Re: MLB 2019: Every Year at Playoff Time, The Dodgers Find A Way to Choke.

The Tigers played their final game this afternoon in what used to be called The Ballpark in Arlington.

The fact that we're now abandoning 25 year old stadiums is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in sports. That's 2 of them now in MLB in the last couple years.
New stadium has a retractable roof and a/c.

I'm a diehard Red Sox fan (this past week has been a cause for indigestion).

So allow me to provide you even more indigestion. :D

Last night's Yankees' lineup had more games played in AAA than the Majors this year. And they still beat the inept Red Sox!

Arizona is already looking to move, too. Not just stadiums, either. It got leaked they were talking with a Vegas suburb.

This doesn't really make sense so I assume the "leak" is just a tactic.

Phoenix is exactly the kind of sprawling conspicuous consumption city that pro sports leagues salivate over. The jock:nerd quotient is off the charts. It's ripe for extremely stupid, emotional, irresponsible, graft-ridden public financing in the way only Texas and Florida rival.

Good lord. Odorizzi had a 27 pitch 1st inning, facing just 4 batters. He'll be out of the game in the 4th inning at this rate.

Russell- that was part of it. The pitching staff is a run a game worse than last year. Management overpayed on pitchers and other emotional signings in the off season.

The bright spot has been the play of Devers, Vazquez and Bogaerts. Everyone else has been a disappointment. And Betts is going to have a huge payday in the off season that I don't know if the Sox can afford to pay.

If last century is any predictor, the next Sox WS win will be in 2104. I have my 4 and am happy. My Dad, who worked for the Yawkeys from 1940 until his death in 1982 saw 0.

My Dad, who worked for the Yawkeys from 1940 until his death in 1982.

So that's why you are a Red Sox fan. I've always been trying to figure that out because I thought you grew up in the NYC metro area.

Wait. The forsaken Mets are 9-1 over their last 10 and currently sit 2.5 back of the second wild card?

Don't fall for it, Kep.

I'm just watching the games.

I'm not drawing conclusions.

It has been fun though.

Note these games have been against the White Sox, Pirates, and Marlins, so...

... yeah.

Being a Mets fan means knowing that a loss isn't a reason for suicide and a win, while a reason for a party, is not a reason for hope.

Being a Mets fan since 1971 was the best possible preparation I could have for being a Democrat.

Rebuttal: this.

The addition of Marcus Stroman improved the rotation significantly, but in every other sense the Mets will have to beat the teams they need to beat with what’s more or less the same roster that got them to the second-worst record in the National League at the All-Star Break.

But this team is not that team. For however long it lasts, the Mets are something very different, something much more fun and a little frightening in the way uncanny things always are. They are, at this moment, pretty much out of their minds with belief. They have a lot of ground to make up, and the things that didn’t work that suddenly all started working at the same time could well stop working again as the schedule or the phase of the moon changes, but also this is baseball and Things Like This happen every year. It is August, and only just. It definitely feels like the Mets will never lose again, but that’s just not the way it works. Except for sometimes. But it almost never works like that. But you have to consider it. It would be wise, probably, to consider it.

How old were you in 1969? That was a fun year to watch 162 Mets games on WOR.

that I don't know if the Sox can afford to pay..

john double-u prints money hand over fist there on yawkey way. they can afford whatever they want, and any crying is total b.s.

Re: MLB 2019: Every Year at Playoff Time, The Dodgers Find A Way to Choke.

JH got "woke" (the bastahd) and had TAYs plaque taken down and Yawkey Way revert back to Jersey Street.

They were pond scum, though. So although JH is no doubt a hypocrite, it's hardly something I'm going to complain about. Almost all of the old owners were bigoted, reactionary slave drivers. The hell with em.

Mets now 13-1 in their last 14.
