Re: MLB 2018.1: ...And The Nationals Will Not Make It Out of the First Round

CLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVELAND clinches the AL Central by pounding the Tigers 15-squat.

Re: MLB 2018.1: ...And The Nationals Will Not Make It Out of the First Round

The lowest ERA in the NL belongs to Jacob deGrom. (1.78.)

The second lowest ERA in the NL belongs to Literally Everyone Starting Against Jacob deGrom. (Combined 2.39.)

MVP's certainly a stretch, but I'm in favor of getting this poor guy a Cy.

Re: MLB 2018.1: ...And The Nationals Will Not Make It Out of the First Round

Christian Yelich became the 3rd player in the modern era to hit for the cycle twice in one season last night. He also did it Aug 29, ALSO against the Reds.

Given how bad Cincinnati is, that record should be described differently: Cincinnati became the first team in the modern era to allow a player to hit for the cycle twice in one season.

Unless I"m wrong.

The Oakland Raiders crush the Los Angeles Rams 21-3.

Wait, that was the A's and Angels????

Shoutout to Angels catcher Francisco Arcia, who gave up two home runs as a pitcher, then hit one of his own.

How the hell am I in the market that gets BOS-CLE, and not the one that gets CHC-CWS?

Re: MLB 2018.1: ...And The Nationals Will Not Make It Out of the First Round

How are you feeling about beating CHC to the finish line?

BOS/CLE is likely the national broadcast on MLB Net, and CHC/CWS is only being broadcast in BOS/CLE's markets.

Shush. Gotta get past Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and Detroit. One game at a time, and scoreboard watching doesn't help the Brewers win games.

*edit*

*checks box scores*
Brewers losing 0-2 to Pittsburgh halfway through.

At this rate the Cardinals are going to take the top wildcard spot and the Rockies will slip in too.

Hader hit hard in the rain. 2 dingers and a long double in one inning.

Brewers pick up runs on 3 walks and hit batsman in 6th.

Weird night.

Things are looking slightly different from when you asked this question on Saturday. :D

The NL Central and West are quite exciting right now. No one has clinched anything. It's still possible for the Cubs or the Dodgers to miss the playoffs entirely (not both, though). Likely? No, but possible.

Re: MLB 2018.1: ...And The Nationals Will Not Make It Out of the First Round

A's lost last night for the first time when holding a lead after 7. Oh well, had to happen sometime, at least it's now and not in the WCG

Re: MLB 2018.1: ...And The Nationals Will Not Make It Out of the First Round

Yankees appear poised to secure home field for the Wild Card game. Pumped to fly up for it next week, last year was, quite literally, WILD.

They already have. <strike>Worst they can do record-wise is a tie, and they own the tie breaker</strike>.

edit: didn't realize A's lost last night. Yanks cinched home field by winning last night.

Chance for a game 164 is gone, but we could get two game 163s.

Re: MLB 2018.1: ...And The Nationals Will Not Make It Out of the First Round

When was the last time we had two divisions tied on the final day of the regular season? And I think it is wonderful that we get yet another helping of Yankees/Sox (at least according to my cable guide) instead of one of the four NL games that matter tomorrow afternoon on TBS.
