Cubs take 2 of 3 from the Pirates in Pittsburgh. 23 games over .500. I had them at .500 for the year back in April. Don't mind being wrong.

Mets' magic number down to Gary Carter.

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Clayton Kershaw has a outside shot to strike out 300 this year. He's got 272, with possibly 3 starts left.

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Jonathan Papelbon (Papelboom) & Bryce Harper gave us a preview of the House GOP caucus.

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Papelbon was bent (rightfully so) because Harper didn't run out a pop-up. There was an altercation in the dugout, after which Harper was removed from the game and stomped into the clubhouse. Papelbon then proceeded to go out and give up 5 runs in the top of the 9th.

Harper half assed it, but made it to 1st before the catch. Paps should have kept his mouth shut given the time in the season and the guy he's yelling at has done everything for his team this year.

And the fact that Papelbon went right out and got bombed, Shock and Awe style right after that.

Something very special is going on in the CHI-PIT game right now (as far as I know, via internet updates).

Yep. No Pirate has been on base tonight.

*edit* First hit of the night for the Pirates.

Well, poop. I like special performances.
As much as I dislike the Cubs, I too like seeing special performances like this. A little bit of me was sad when the base hit happened.

I can set aside personal preferences (as it seems you can, too) for something like this. It is what makes sports great.

Papelbon will serve his 3 game MLB suspension from last week. The Nationals have given him an additional 4 for yesterday. They've basically sent him home for the season.

The real question is did they send him home for good? Not sure what his contract status is, but I'm not sure the Nats are going to want that cancer in the room next year, if he has time left.

It seems fitting that the Yankees can notch win #10,000 and secure a playoff spot against the Red Sox this week. A Yankees win AND either LAA or HOU loss gets them in.
