MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

I'm at the Padres - Rockies game here in San Diego. If there are 10,000 people here I'd be surprised. It must suck to play here. It's so quiet! And such a dull game.

You should retire there and start a pink hat cart outside the stadium!!! Could be a quick millionaire :D

So last night, the Mets rallied from a 7-1 deficit to beat the Nats. What's the Mets magic number now? 6?

The Cubs' is 16 and they have a better record than the Mets, so I'd imagine the mets are probably at 18 or so.

Edit: Mets magic number is 19.

Cubs E# is at 16 (really sf and wash) for wild card specifically. But they are at 21 for the division. Nats are at 19 for the division.

The Mets are 19 for the wildcard too. But I suspect you are correct. It may be possible to have a lower magic number for your division race than for clinching a wild card berth.

I know the standings call it an E#, but it's been referred to as a team's magic number for decades. 163 - your team's wins - your closest trailer's losses = your magic number to clinch whatever playoff spot you're talking about.

The Cubs' magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 16.

I wasn't trying to correct your wording. Just giving the numbers. Sorry.

Well, "magic number" doesn't imply math, so the Sabremetric guys needed to come up with something that sounded official :p

Mets complete sweep with third come from behind win. Matt Williams continues to slowly commit career suicide on national television.

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Yankees and Jays postponed tonight, but there will be a single admission DH Saturday starting at 1:05 and then 30 mins after 1st game is completed. As discussed recently, more of these, please.

Listen here, Pirates. If you can't beat the Brewers, there's no helping you. Step it up. I don't want to have to put my faith in the Cubs to overtake the Cardinals.

Pirates can't beat the Reds, Cubs or Brewers. They are terrible in the central.

Jays take the first 9-5 in 11 innings. Marcus Stroman looked good in the second game in his first start of the year after ACL surgery, but the rain really came midway through the sixth with the Jays up 6-3.

500 career dingers for David Ortiz tonight vs Tampa.

Lester with his first complete game of the year as the Cubs split with the Pirates in their double header yesterday. Arietta on the mound today for the Cubbies. Cubs 7.5 games up on San Fran for second wild card.
