MLB 2012, Part 1 - It's here

Re: MLB 2012, Part 1 - It's here

Today is Jackie Robinson Day, so here's an interesting article from SI on his widow Rachel and her work with the Jackie Robinson Foundation.

Omar Infante gets the dubious honor of unleashing this thing on an unsuspecting public.

The Marlins home run thingy is beautiful. /sniffle :D

With all the (well-deserved) Jackie Robinson hubbub, baseball should take a few minutes to remember Larry Doby as well. As he said - 11 weeks later, do you think it was any easier?

Re: MLB 2012, Part 1 - It's here

My favorite ballpark ever is Milwaukee County Stadium. I actually loved RFK because it reminded me of it. I am also willing to acknowledge them both as dumps. :) I will never like Miller Park as much as I loved County Stadium.
I have always said Memorial Stadium was cooler than Camden Yards. Between the foul poles the OF looked like a little league park.

A dump is loveable if it's your dump.

The perfect thing for that Marlins home run thing.

I never realized how huge that thing is. I think more effort was put into that than some of the original pyramids.

Per the ESPNews ticker, Pudge Rodriguez will retire on Monday at Rangers Ballpark.

That's the way it is, was it any easier for the guy that came over here after Columbus? But do we remember his name?

Re: MLB 2012, Part 1 - It's here

While not technically MLB news, Jose Conseco is back in baseball in the United States (formerly of the Quintana Roo Tigers in Mexico). He just signed a contract with the Worcester Tornadoes - a Canadian-American Association of Baseball team. The league is not affiliated with MLB.

Conseco was on 98.5, The Sports Hub, doing an interview for the 100 years of Fenway, to make the announcement.

Re: MLB 2012, Part 1 - It's here

Brad Lidge blows it in the 9th for Strausburg and the Nats. 2-0 lead, he walks the first guy, and the next guy crushes a HR to tie it.
