MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Watching MLB Network now. I didn't realize Dan Plesac is taller than Verlander, and Verlander isn't exactly short.

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Terry Francona says he's not going to coach next season. How long before the MLB Network snaps him up?

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Reportedly, the Cubs offered Dale Sveum their job as manager. He had 2 interviews with the Red Sox as well, so it'll be interesting to see if he accepts.

NL CY Young will be announced today - the first award that's not a given. I'm going with Kershaw.

There is a nice piece on the Brewers at Grantland. Normally I wouldn't send anyone there, but BS didn't write this.

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

I don't see any fixes, unless you are saying that the Brewers and Grantland are not to be capitalized. :p
Oh that's not what I meant. FYP as in, I liked your rip on Grantland and BS. Should have said "this."

Looks like the Astros may be going to the AL along with other changes.

I'm not a fan.

This made more sense a few years ago when the Rays were awful and the Marlins didn't just get a brand new stadium, but I'd be in favor of contracting both Florida teams and returning back to two 7 team divisions per league. They are both in the cellar in attendance, even this year the Rays were 29th despite making the playoffs.

How exactly does having a one game playoff to determine the last spot make the playoffs less meaningful? It's like having a Game 163 on purpose. It's one game. I think it's a great idea. Give one more team a shot - and it doesn't really make the season any longer. It certainly doesn't seem worthy of that kind of reaction or insisting the entire sport is ruined. If you're complaining about the other aspects, the realignment, the uneven schedule, fine, but it doesn't seem like you are. Maybe they should go back to just having a World Series. Then it'd be really meaningful to make the playoffs.

Have you met dx? He's a very emotional person who has a tendency to overreact without thinking things through...:p
