MLB 2011 Part 1

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Big market teams will love this idea.

I certainly see some positives here:

1. Better teams in the post season. You can't just be the best team in a weak division.
2. More equality in the getting to the post season. The NL Central has 6 teams while the AL and NL West have 4. Not exactly fair. This is the players argument.
3. More teams with a chance to get to the post season. An extra spot means more teams playing to win.

When did SkyDome get renamed the Rogers Centre? Isn't that what the Canucks' arena is called?

I picked my New Red Sox Boyfriend well this year. AGonz with his league-leading 60th RBI today!

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

My only question (and I didn't bring this up, it was asked on Amazin' Avenue) is "Do we make it so that there's one interleague game going on at all times?" I'm just not sure how the league should deal with an odd number of teams in each league.

No, that's GM Place.

How do you get from 5 teams per conference to a 2-team LCS? Replace the divisional series with a round-robin, top 2 run-differentials advance? Blech.

The whole point of divisions is to keep things interesting. If you do this, you might as well kill off the NL West.

If the problem is unequal-sized divisions, kick an NL Central team to the AL West. Problem solved. I nominate Milwaukee.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

My guess is the champion gets a bye. In which case, if they must do this, I hope they go to 1 (playoff), 3 (league semis), 5 (LCS), 7 (WS).

I dunno. Still seems stupid to me.

1 (bye)
2 v 5
3 v 4

That leaves 3 teams. Does #1 get another bye?

Maybe:
1 vs. 4-5 winner
2 vs. 3

I'm thinking it's a slow news day at Yahoo Sports. This "proposal" is completely DOA.

1, 2, 3 get a bye, 4v5 (wildcard) then 2v3 and 1v4

The Red Sox score 35 runs in a three game set against the Jays.

I haven't seen a American unit do this much damage in Toronto since we burned down the city in the War of 1812. :D

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Anyone on this board interested in tickets to Saturday or Sunday's Brewers @ Red Sox games next weekend? I have 4 tickets for saturday (SRO) and 2 for sunday available (Grandstand 23). Let me know in this thread or via my email on here.

Are you not coming here now?

I nominate anyone except Milwaukee. Florida, perhaps. Pretty sure their fan wouldn't care. Then move Pittsburgh to the East.
