Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Roy Halladay won the NL Cy Young Award.

In other news, the sun rose in the east this morning.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Braves trade uber-utility Infante and MR Mike Dunn for Dan Uggla.

Offense got a whole lot better, infield defense a whole lot worse.

2 of them from Earl Weaver. Language NSFW:

Wasn't it Uggla who singlehandedly cost the NL the all-star game 2-3 years ago? I remember some infielder went something like 0-3 with a K and 2 GIDP's, all with the bases loaded, and had 2 or 3 errors in the field as well.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Making the playoffs actually means someone in only one sport anymore. Baseball. This is disgusting. The playoffs are already too long. You want to be playing into december? **** you selig. **** YOU!

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

The season should drop back to 154 games, even if they don't add another round of playoffs. Also, the World Series should end no later than the 1st week of November. If that means moving the season up or scheduling more double headers (ahh the good ole days), I say do it.

Oh and no days off in the post season. They don't get 2 per week in the regular season.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

The idea of making two wild cards play a best of 3 right after the season ends to get to the ALDS is kind of interesting, if only because it makes winning the division mean more.

But baseball is just too long. Weekend doubleheaders ought to be mandatory. My ideal world has the baseball playoffs starting soon after Labor Day, but that's obviously never going to happen.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

You can't start the season any earlier. You already run into problems with snow in Cleveland. I can only imagine a portion of seasons in minnesota get postponed or moved because of snow. I personally like it how it is right now. Yes, I'm aware how stubborn I come off as, but honestly, I love the way baseball works in terms of the season and playoffs.

All this. Some of us enjoy playoffs where less than half the teams make it, dammit!

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Glad to see that Joey Votto wins the NL MVP. Partly because his name isn't Albert Pujols.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Derek Jeter reportedly wants 6 years/$150M.

It's nice to want. I want World Peace.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Twins won the rights to some Japanese hitter, Tsuyoshi Nishioka. This will make them unstoppable if they can sign him! :D
