Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Phils in 4
Giants in 4

Rays in 5
Yankees in 5 (Kills me to say it, but Gardenhire is a choker)

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Choker? Where did that come from?

Playoff underachiever I could understand.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

I think I see this as the first round:

Phillies in 4
Both parks are hitters parks so you would think that would favor the offenses, but the Phils just have too much pitching to not succeed in this series.

Giants in 5
Atlanta really struggled down the stretch and have lost a ton of key players to injury. The Giants big 3 pitchers may be as good as the Phils.

Rangers in 4
My upset special of sorts. The Rangers historically have been able to hit, its been their pitching that has let them down. This year with Lee and Wilson I think they have enough to get past the Rays.

Yankees in 4
The Twins having home field, an overall better team then last year and the Yankees pitching staff having an ERA over 5 the last month really points to the Twins best chance to win this series. But somehow I think the Yankees bats help them prevail.

Note:
In the AL if either series goes to game 5 my feelings change. I then think the home teams would win the series.

Edit for spelling/grammar.

If you can, listen to the Phils radio broadcast. Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen are among the best in the biz right now.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Darling was terrible (and orange) for the Nats but great with the Mets. So, 50/50.
I love Gary Cohen and think he's a great pbp guy. Keith is alright and I think he provides some insight and has some ability. However, I dislike Ron Darling very much.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Unfortunately they'll have to give innings to the TV crew now that they're done with that duty...

Well admittedly T-Mac, Wheels and Sarge are not nearly as good as Franzke and Andersen (although I don't hate them nearly as much as most in Philly do), but they are Vin Scully, Curt Gowdy and Ernie Harwell compared to Buck and McCarver.

I'm disappointed there's no Chip Carey. ;) :D

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

I don't make predictions, but I am rooting for SF, Texas, Minnesota, and Cincy.

The only team I really, really would hate to see win is Atlanta. I'd prefer the Yankees and Phillies lose, just because they've both won recently, but I don't harbor intense dislike for them or anything. It's hard for me to pick a favorite in the Tampa-Texas series, but I'm going with Texas because they have more players I like.

Re: MLB 2010: The Second Half

Doens't Craig Sager look like a used car salesman to you?

He reminds me of David Leisure's slimy neighbor character on "Empty Nest."

I'll be rooting for the Yankees in the AL since the other 3 teams are non-entities, and anybody but Atlanta in the NL since pure evil must be fought with ever fiber of our being.

The closest there is to a sentimental favorite is Cincinnati. The Reds-Phillies series is by far the most interesting of all permutations.

**** **** *** **** **** *** **** ***** **** *** ****

He was TERRIBLE last year for this series. He even eclipsed Hawk for the most part.

Sounds like a Met fan perspective.

Impossible. I find Ron Darling as annoying as anyone, but worse than Hawk? Never. For the people that weren't honored enough to watch Hawk in the early 90s, I think he was even worse then. Seems like he's mellowed a tiny bit.

IMO: Darling > Morgan > McCarver > Hawk

although I could switch Morgan and McCarver depending on mood.

p.s. totally biased, but I love Brian Anderson.
