We got screwed out of spring too didn't we?Quit yer whining. We still got 2 and a half weeks of spring left.![]()
I just heard that elsewhere recently, too. In fact, I had just made note of it on the Facebook. When I was talking to my dad (he's been a farmer all his life) last weekend, about the weather, he said this is like "the summer that never was" (which I think is just what local farmers in the area refer to it as) in 1992. There are already many acres of corn that are going to go unplanted due to the weather, and it now being too late to plant corn.
Seems that way in Maine also. Highs in the 50s. Rains every other day. When I was talking to my dad (he's been a farmer all his life) last weekend, about the weather, he said this is like "the summer that never was" (which I think is just what local farmers in the area refer to it as) in 1992. 1992 was pretty cold and rainy, too. I remember something like 45-50 straight days that had rain and it didn't get into the 80's until sometime in July. This is the coldest spring/summer I can remember.

Corn here in SE Michigan is looking kind of scraggly. I was starting to wonder if they was having problems with their planter and it not putting down enough seeds in the ground. Some of them are just now starting to pop up, and its been a couple of weeks since they've been in the ground. When I was talking to my dad (he's been a farmer all his life) last weekend, about the weather, he said this is like "the summer that never was" (which I think is just what local farmers in the area refer to it as) in 1992. Wish it would have come on a weekend. We're supposed to get summer on Tuesday. That'll be nice.
Lahd the wind and rain coming through right now is almost enough to make me duck and cover...
We were in the purple (or whatever more descriptive color the Sue fans would use).
