Jeebus. The pictures out of Chetek, WI are scary. There's nothing left of that trailer park. :(

My brother in Eden Prairie had big branches down in his driveway today; anybody in the Twin Cities have any other damage?

Huge trees down in sw MPLS and Edina- seen a few where the sidewalk was ripped up along with the roots. Also seeing friends with bad tree and home damage in Blaine and maple grove

The norther metro area got smashed pretty good. The hail piled up ankle deep in some photos I've seen, plows and skid loaders were called out to clear the streets. The local NBC news showed a tree going into a family's home with a small fire at the top of the house or tree - it's tough to see. The home owner said that a similar tree was down in his neighbor's yard.

My hometown of Coon Rapids was one that had to get out plows to clear the hail. Leaves and twigs acted like filters on the storm drains, letting water eventually flow through but not the hail. Hail drifts two feet high in some lawns.

My dad had golfball sized hail. Likely needs a new roof. It sounds like he dodged the worst of it. In the TPC I saw pictures of a friend of a friend whose house likes like Dresden after WWII. Hundreds of marble to golfball sized holes in the siding, broken windows. A total mess.

So the forecasts for tonight/tomorrow look to be a mix of rain and snow, with snow accumulation values being pretty much the only variable.

It was 80 degrees not but 10 days ago, if even that long. Thanks for the adjustment period, Mother Nature.

"Minnesota Nice" is Minnesotan for "Minnesota Passive-Aggressive."

It is indeed the Coon Rapids High School Cardinals. Affectionately shortened to Crapids, which is funny because it is still better than the actual name of the city.

We (Tonka) played CR in hockey my senior year. The schools are not that far apart in the grand scheme of the metro, but when you're 17 and cocky it might as well have been TX. When seeing their name on the released schedule the reaction was, "Where is Boon Dock Rapids?"

The other issue is that there's no great way to get from CR to Tonka. CR is ok the other side of the Mississippi between the 610 and 169 bridges. It's the large NW suburb that's kind of cut off from the other large NW suburbs.

I finally broke down and turned on the furnace tonight. Every year I try to make it to Halloween. I can’t remeber if I’ve ever made it, but this was a close one.

I am *so* looking forward to taking Crosstown to Mendota during rush hour tomorrow. Whee.

Gee, it's gonna maybe sorta snow a little. Whee.

I really miss sharply cold Halloweens. In my mind all our Halloweens growing up were brisk. I'm sure it's a false memory, but there were a few, and going out after dusk when we were really young was legitimately spooky, and the cold made the shivers run down your back.

Must suck to be a kid now.
