I have a little dehumidifier thingy where the receptacle fills with water after about 5 or 6 weeks. I emptied it last night. It's full.

I hate DC so much in summer.

Buy one of the dehumidifiers that has a continuous operation function You set them near to a floor drain and they have a hose running out the rear.

From this morning's Boston Globe,
Monday marked the seventh day of a major heat wave(SoS edit: 4 of the last 5 days have set or tied temp records), the second of the summer across southern New England. The unrelenting heat and humidity have taken their toll on our collective mood as this is not normal summer weather in our part of the country.

The past three weeks have seen the warmest 21 days ever recorded in 151 years of records in Boston, similar to temperatures in Missouri or North Carolina where this type of heat and humidity is expected. Coupled with growing drought(SoS edit: almost 9" below average rainfall since Jan.1), damage to plants has spread from wilting flower boxes to struggling trees and shrubs.

Glad I've been dragging my ass to get my roof done. We just had golf ball sized hail again in GDO out of nowhere.

Whelp, looks like the Chicago area is gonna have a fun lead-in to Christmas. It appears we're looking at a legitimate Blizzard: 12"+ of snow and 40+ MPH winds between Thursday and Saturday.

Still looks like it will miss civilization.

Planned to drive to Nola (LaCombe) on Thursday and Friday, going through Chi for a short visit with a daughter. Would have been total shit until south of Memphis. Chi will be a complete disaster on the freeways later Thursday. Now leaving Wed and should get by all of it. Way colder than normal through Christmas in Nola though.

Kuchera HRRR at like 18Z had MSP at ~18". Yikes. Plus 50+ mph winds. That light powdery snow could make this one to remember.
