That's looks correct...other than Heise is from Red Wing :)
Haha thanks, I was thinking of another Taylor who will be joining the team next season! :o

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

let's also not forget it had to be do or die for the Badgers on Sunday, imagine if they had been swept at home

I do agree that offensive production of the blueline is way low
kinda odd too, because I think this group has the potential to be one of the most productive ever
last year at this point I thought maybe they were taking a little bit too much of an active role in offense, this year maybe a bit too little
there is a lot of season left, I think I'll wait to see what happens before I whine about it

Dani is not on the line sheet :(

She won't be at the national camp either. Coach Frost is still hopeful she can play in January.

Go Gophers!

They are doing alright so far tonight without Cameranesi. Up 3-0 after 1 period against BU.

This camera work is making me seasick :o

Price is right though

They looked really good tonight. Completely dominated the first period, and strangled the life out of the rest of the game. Schammel looked good on the first line, the others clicked, and Piazza finally scored. A good night.

Gorgeous passing play in the corner and resulting goal on a backhand in front by Potomak from Schammel and Pannek at about 12:10 of the first period...couldn't stop hitting the rewind. On this one it looked like they were playing 3D chess against a team who had never even heard of the concept let alone experienced it.

Absolutely brilliant.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

I think a week of practice helped the line combinations. It also was nice to see Stecklein get her first goal of the season. Bet she's relieved.

The video was irritating at times. Too many closeups with the camera jumping around losing the play. Showing more of the ice would have helped. But...the price was right and the picture sharp for the most part.

BU has a good 1st line with Rogers, Parker and the other one.

Good night for Gopher hockey, basketball and especially volleyball.

What was good...

Schammel on the first line. Peters had a short memory. Secondary scoring. Free video.

What was not so good...

#12 and #9 turning the puck over too much. Following the video feed.

Of note...

With Minnesota visiting BU the attendance figures at least doubled.

Agreed, very jerky and they try to focus on the puck too much.

I 'love' the play by play guy doing his big time radio guy voice.

For the latter, this issue dates back to last year's FF if not longer. She has a ton of talent and does a lot of good things, but at her position, it is a matter of risk/reward. She needs to get back to the basics and take care of the puck first and foremost.

Strengths: Smooth, terrific skater. Great rushing the puck. Quick, low wrist shot. Capable of springing a forward with an accurate, hard pass.
Weaknesses: Costly turnovers as mentioned. Quite often gets caught out of position trying to do too much, resulting in odd-man breaks. Coverage in her own end can be hit or miss.
Summary: The good far outweighs the bad, yet has the potential to be even better. Noteworthy stat: +18 on the season, second best for defensemen on the team.

You and D2D both touched on this very well. She has the capability to be their best all-around defensemen when Stecklein leaves next year.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

Minnesota was down 2-0 early in the first period but came back with 2 power play goals. 2-2 at the end of the first period. Peters really gave up a softie on BU's second goal. #9 and #12 still having issues with turnovers.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

Boy this is ugly. This is not what I was hoping to see

Missing your best scorer, and struggling with secondary scoring, handing out giftys is a bad strategy.

I'm still hoping they come back and win the game, go Gophers!

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

Ugly is the right word as it's 5-3 after two periods. The goalie needs to step it up as well. I'm not excusing the turnovers but your goalie has to be bail you out on at least some of those.

8 goals given up in a game last weekend...5 and counting today.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2016-2017 (aka Season 20)

Quite the performance by the Gophers in the final 5 minutes of the 3rd to tie it up 5-5.

Onto OT...
