Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016 (Part 2) -- Amanda Kessel Enhanced

Gopher website & WCHA website does not agree on +/- for several Gophers
Gopher website gives one less than WCHA for 5 players
26 47/48
2 41/42
9 47/48
18 5/6
7 6/7
which would improve the ratio slightly for them if the WCHA stats are correct
This is spillover from Williamson's goal that was incorrectly listed on GopherSports as being a power-play tally when it was really at equal strength. The Gophers on the ice at the time did not get the +1 as a result.

I have updated the ratios, although the change is only ~.1 up for those players
team average is 3.9

I thought Souhan's piece in the Strib today about the athletic department was a pile of c**p.

Yes, the football team and men's basketball team haven't won so people are going to be upset. Yes, we have scandal with Teague and the 3 basketball players.

But his attempt to throw everyone into the same pile was weak and poorly done. There are a lot of people in the department that don't deserve to be thrown in the pile in the indiscriminate way that Souhan did. I'm not sure Kaler and Goetz were responsible for the football or b'ball team in 1975 or 1985 or 1995 or 2005, right? I have no idea if Beth Goetz should be the AD, but using the fact she was at Butler and wasn't the administrator for men's basketball as evidence she shouldn't be the AD is a "Souhanesque' argument. It's weak.

There are a lot of good teams in the Minnesota athletic department and GWH is one of them.

Go Gophers!

Not sure where else to post this, but any recommendations for a good place for pre/post game food & adult beverages that's a reasonable distance of Ridder? Bonus points if they have Grain Belt on tap. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I wonder if they will allow going out and returning between games?
or are we stuck choosing between brats, nacho chips, or pizza?
I always use Google Maps to see what's around where I am going to be and use the link to their menu.
you are gonna want to go west a couple blocks
or south a couple blocks to Washington Ave.

Problem here is you didn't say what you are looking for other than GB

I think he is arguing that Kaler is not qualified to pick the next AD and Goetz isn't qualified to be AD.

Maybe he is arguing Kaler should not even be Prez, but its tough to tell.

I was taught if you make an argument, but don't give the reader an alternative to whatever you are arguing against, ... well ... you are just complaining ((I guess the B word doesn't make it thru the filter)

I would say like a quality burger, loaded nachos or wings. Clearly nothing too high end. In the past, I had gone to Sally's at their older location. However, the last time there, I came down with nasty food poisoning. I see that they've moved nearby, but reviews don't look great..and still remember the horror of spending the night on the bathroom floor.

I see there is a BWW close, but I can go there any day down here. Would like something more unique to the U.

I'm a big fan of Stub & Herb's. Went there before the WFF last year.

that part I assumed

Big Ten two blocks south. Blarney 2 blocks west are a couple more options
the former has been around forever and likely a quieter option
given it will be a nice day, the latter will probably have sidewalk tables and open their windows

so anybody know if you can leave & return after the first game?

Thanks for all the ideas. Just sounds like I have to decide how close to Ridder I want to be.

Unless it has changed, the last couple of times I went to Ridder for the WCHA tournament, there was a no-reentry policy. Absolutely hated it, but it was what it was. If single session tickets were cheaper, I would have just left and bought a new ticket. I know that it would be a little labor intensive, but it would be nice if they had wristbands or hand-stamps and then a separate door for re-entry.

This is consistent with the Ridder Arena handbook, which also states no re-entry policy. I was hoping it would be different for this event haha

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016 (Part 2) -- Amanda Kessel Enhanced

well, I guess I'll have to sneak a 'samich in then.

OMG, how did I not remember?

Not a bar, a burger joint, My Burger sells GB for $2 and has inexpensive Burgers, they are just north of Stub & Herbs.

McDonalds is on the corner
you may be able to get a McShake

Not likely to be confused with a Graint Belt, though.
