Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

imagine the reaction from BC supporters if BC had 12 future recruits playing in a US/Canada U18 game. :)

It also has to be making a certain poster's (HB) blood boil at commitments the Gopher's staff has the next few years. :D

maybe now you'll finally play BC.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

I'm sure Hanna would want to play if she has recovered from the nagging injuries and aches. Would make sense to giver her another weekend off just the same, I think. If needed.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

Honestly seeing TWELVE for the Gophers is pretty depressing. I wouldn't complain if it was BC obviously but geez, this can't be good for the growth of the college game.

Minnesota only concerns itself with the growth of their own roster. ;)

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

I'm very glad to hear Amanda Kessel is doing well. But...

How does she have any eligibility left? Under the NCAA "five year rule", she would have been out after spring 2015, no? Did she get some sort of waiver of that rule?

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

Good translation. I think that BC squad had the deadly duo of Skarupa (FR) and Carpenter (So) which currently, the Gophers are supposedly afraid of. ;)
Well, there was that game. Gophs did their best to arrange a rematch last March. I can't help but wonder how many chances chicken&#@t Minnesota "owes" Boston College.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

only because you had to play that one. still dodging it for years.
I know for a fact that players would rather play MN and WI and lose than play a crap team and win 10-0.
too bad that cant be said for other teams

It could be said that if players truly want to play MN and Wisconsin, they are free to chose to play for teams that are in the WCHA. :)

The last I checked the NCAA allowed all D-1school to recruit players under the same rules. Unless you know some unwritten ones that prevent BC and WI from courting and signing those players what exactly is your whining about? Gee Brad, you guys won so please stop recruiting good players?! I doubt he is holding a gun to anyones head and the rules for recruiting are enforced so the choice is the players to make.

The crying here is rediculous. Frost is good about letting players know where he sees them fitting or kids would be leaving. The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our Gophers, but in yourselves.

Why don't you stick to spreading your fertilizer in the BC thread?

F ' n hockey parents...

I never said anything you seem to be implying that I said.

I am sorry. I was actully responding to several posts and yours was the least whiny. You may be right about what is better for woman's hockey but there is no fix that can be forced on the issue. Mostly I am tired of the whining about stashing and instead of responding to all I chose yours because doing this on the phone is a pita. You didn't deserve that and I am sorry.

No worries!

The way I look at it is, it's like UConn women's basketball. The Gophers might end up becoming that level of dominant in the next several years, or maybe not, but if they do it'll just make it all the more satisfying when someone takes them down haha

But yeah if you end up seeing fewer of these national team players go to schools like UVM (Pelkey) or Colgate (I think they have one or two), it'll definitely make things more top heavy.

(For the record the "stashing" opinions are total nonsense, it's not like they are scooping up U18s and making them ride the bench. And if the players want to do that that's their choice.)

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

Competitive imbalance is definitely part of D1 women's hockey. But remember there is competitive imbalance lots of places like volleyball, women's basketball and D3 football just for example.

We need more players, and while the growth has slowed it hasn't stopped. Here's an update:
