Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

Not to rush past what was a surprising weekend to me, I thought the Gophers would win 1-0 and 2-1, but the game with Yale this weekend will be a reunion of sorts of one of the best high school lines in recent memory of Kelly Pannek, Caitlin Reilly and Brittany Wheeler. To get even further ahead into the Gopher's future, 2016-2017 signee Kippin Keller was also on that 2014 BSM team. Anyone know why she transferred from the Red Knights to the Skippers?

Can't say for sure, but my guess is that she saw the handwriting on the wall. That BSM team was very senior heavy, with six of those seniors going D1. With that depletion, Kippen would have realistically been the only returnee with D1 potential. So with the loss of all that talent, the following year was sure to be very difficult for BSM (which sure enough turned out to be true). Meanwhile, Minnetonka was merely reloading and, with Keller's help, went on to reach the Class AA Tournament final. Again, I'm guessing a bit here, as there could be other reasons why she decided to transfer, but IMO that's the most logical explanation.

The good news now is that Kelly Pannek, Caitlin Reilly and Kippin Keller will all be Gophers for the next two years, a BSM reunion of sorts.

In case you haven't seen the announcement yet, game time Saturday vs. Yale is 7:07 p.m.

Thanks D2D. Your reasoning seems sound to me. I see (if my Harding math is correct) that Kippen got 2 goals and 4 assists this weekend in wins over Roseau and Warroad. It seems that she made the right decision to transfer.

Yale...the other Bulldogs. Lost to Quinnipiac, beat Quinnipiac, tied Dartmouth...one goal losses to Harvard and Princeton...smoked by BU. Tough to know what to expect but seems like a team that can compete yet maybe inconsistent. Couple of locals on the roster. A little UMD connection with the staff behind the bench. Much better looking mascot than "Champ"

Anyone know more?

Goalie Jaimie Leonoff graduated, and the current numbers suggest that Yale misses her.

so from all of the schools in the east you pick Yale? when are you going to finally say yes to BC? or are you waiting for Carpenter and Skarupa to leave?
you can officially stop with the confection free? maybe next year you can have Merrimack come out. gutless...

If Minnesota shows up on BC's schedule in the next couple years I am going to laughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and laughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and laughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and the bolded part is going to be my official narrative.

To be fair you have to give Minnesota credit for playing such a tough eastern opponent compared to the Badgers. Two games against the Friars is quite a gauntlet.

UW does play Dartmouth, which looks like it will be an improvement over Yale, though that wasn't the case when the schedules were made.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

The rant would be more impressive coming from someone whose team had played at least one ranked opponent.

rant? wow...it's not BC's fault they don't play teams that aren't ranked. they don't recruit for the other schools. they are bound by conference to play each team 3x. believe me they would love to play all ranked teams.
it is gutless when 2 of the best 3 hockey schools refuse to play a specific team when they've been asked for years now. it wont even cost anything. I believe BC even offered to travel to you.

an undefeated season means nothing if you don't play the best. that's the same in the east as it is west.

So if Minnesota plays unranked teams out of conference, the Gophers are gutless, but if BC plays such teams out of conference, then the Eagles have no control? Let me guess, Clarkson and Quinnipiac are gutless as well.

As for playing the best, if you get to the championship, either you played the best or they weren't that good after all.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey 2015-2016: Confection Free

I'm curious to know how the non-conference schedule is set. Is it true that BC has offered to come to Minneapolis and has been turned away?

We should rent Richfield Arena or the Schultz-Highland Arena for an hour and tell BC to just show up. The Gophers can come over and we'll throw a puck out there and let them have at it.

Ted is an ******* with apparent limited intelligence. Your popcorn joke is stale. Nothing amusing about ted's idiocy. brookyone
I disagree. I think Teddy is awesome. I also think this whole thing is amusing.

One thing I can say about Teddy is he doesn't spend all day posting pictures of random half naked chicks on his Facebook page.

OOOOOOOOOH OOOOOOOOOOOOOH SICK BURNNNNNNNNN FROM TTT20

Just a refresher. In 2012-2013, the meaningless undefeated season GWH played BC with Carpenter & Skarupa...who generously contributed to the meaningless undefeated season.

Last season GWH did their part in trying to arrange a rematch.

This season I see 12 games vs. ranked opponents on the Gopher schedule, including 4 against #1. somewhat fewer, lower ranked on the BC schedule.

Someone is a full of chit bag of wind.

Minnesota is playing two nonconference series. Both are in response to trips teams made in season's past, and were likely agreed upon at the time. The Gophers went to Yale in 2013-14, so that series has been set for a while.

BC has a 30-win season and some of its followers act like it's never been done before. TTT hasn't changed much from the days he first showed up. ;)
