Concussions - they suck!!!!
I have 2 boys who still play at the college level. Both have had 3 concussions, although they deny 1 each. I keep count and monitor their recovery after each one.
I hope for a clean journey for Amanda for the rest of this season - for sure!!!!!!!
What one of the boys coaches did was use him on PP for the first 5 games and nothing else when he came back. He was also not used as a forward on PP but instead as a defenseman (prior to the concussion he was a full time forward). This largely kept him out of the scrums. Ultimately the coach liked him more as a defenseman and left him there full time.
I breath deeply when I see these announcements. I truly hope this is a good idea, and wish nothing but a healthy and successful finish to Amanda's NCAA career.
Last year, Pucci from Harvard came back after Christmas and I watched it closely. Two of her concussions came from Jenner (not blaming her) but I always choose to watch the games where Harvard and Cornell played, hoping that she would just get through.
All the best to Amanda with hopes that she will apply all of her skills in a measured way. She is obviously a difference maker, but with UM she doesn't have to do it all.
It's tough to stop a race horse from racing.
