Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

I am at the game. I thought McCabe's hit was high...but there was no call until the retaliation. So a really indecisive call.

After the power play was over a gopher tackled Mauer in front of the bench. Refs were not watching.

I'll defer to anyone who actually saw replays, but I seemed fairly sure of it. The ref's arm DID go up before the retaliation, and he was behind the gopher.

Enjoy Bucky. It will be the high point of your season.....and the low point for the Gophs.

Indecisive or not, McCabe is gonna have a suspension coming. Guy left his feet, extended his arms. Very dirty hit.

This.

Another disappointing result. Hard to understand how the Gophers could come out so hard and then get their wind taken out by a shot from near the blue line. But as someone said, this will be the Badgers' highlight of the year, I'll wait until the NCAA Tourney for ours.

On a side note, I find it ironic that the fans were chanting overrated considering they were picked to be so good at the beginning of the year.

Congrats on puck luck and one player (Rumpel) winning the game for you guys.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

The difference between what McC did to Rau and what Parenteau did to Mersch a few minutes later is VERY slight in terms of what goes through the defenders mind when making the hit. But that slight difference is also probably rightfully the difference between how the refs called it. As frustrating as it was (particularly since there where plenty of high arms going around on both sides, with only McCabe getting called for it), I can't really argue with it.

If I'm gonna ***** about anything, it'll be the frequency with which rodents hit the ice near the boards. But I really can't complain at all. That was a fantastic, intense game on both sides, and I'm just glad that Kerdiles, Besse and Rumpel brought enough to keep the Badgers ahead.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Congrats on being a condescending sourpuss. By all means, go ahead and represent every negative stereotype about your fanbase. It takes nothing away from the joy of sweeping your team.

Personally I'm a little disappointed he didn't include a complaint about that embellishment call on Rau. But give him time, he's new.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

In all seriousness though, it was a nice preview. There was obviously some time that went into checking various sources for injury news and for recent statistics, but it was still kind of a "fill-in-the-blanks" style of a post. But when you come back to the board to declare yourself the winner of the internets for correctly identifying some very basic points about hockey (PP/PK play, crowd the net, match physicality), you come off like you just got done {WHAT I DO WHEN MOMMY'S AT WORK}.

FYP Cornholio.:D

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Badgers sweep and this series is looked back upon by historians as the turning point in a season that culminates in the 7th NCAA title in school history.

You heard it here.

You may say I'm a dreamer...

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

Yeah, that's not what happened tonight noob. Badgers had far more high quality, in close chances than the Goofs did. Tonight, at worst it was an even game although I'd say the Badgers outplayed your boys by a bit.

Shots were essentially equal and many on Rumps were from far out with zero traffic in front. That last lazer though was a brilliant save. My vantage point was right behind the Gopher shooter and it was going top shelf until Rumps snagged it.

Badgers also had a number of pastings on your boys.

I wouldn't be spouting off too much about your highlight of the season coming in the tourney either. You're usually a highlight for everyone else in the tourney or at the least, a point and laugh moment.

Well, maybe its the math that throws you off, or a less than adequate command of the English language, but the word "usually" is an odd word to use when considering the fact that Minnesota makes the Final Four close to 60% of the time when it make it to the NCAA tourney, while Wisconsin makes it to the Final Four less than 50% of the time. But my #s could be off?!

I've got 20 FFs for UMn and 12 for Wisconsin, and 34 appearances for UMn and 25 for Wisconsin.

So 59% as compared to 48%.

So enlighten me as to what it was you were trying to say when you said UMn "usually" is a highlight for everyone else in the tourney?!

Blah, blah, blah, it's great just making the tourney, blah, blah.

So enlighten me as to what it was you were trying to say when you said UMn "usually" is a highlight for everyone else in the tourney?!

When you inevitably come up short, occasionally in spectacular fashion.

Congrats on those Frozen Fours though. Definitely something to be proud of.

It'd be nice to be able to look at those lesser (than an NCAA Title) accomplishments as if they mattered. Unfortunately, we don't.

Are you enlightened?
