Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

The Mike Heller show (1070) reports a sell out; who knows. Shuchuk is supposed to be on this hour.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Well, where's your preview, so we can grade it.

Here was mine. Do I get a cookie?

You've all grown fat and lazy and are barely even shadows of your former selves. Especially you. You all sit back on your couches sucking on fried turkey legs and spilling cheap beer down your shirt, expecting Ambroz is just going to bail you out again come Thursday. Not gonna happen fellas. :p

I prefer to think of tonight's attendance as a little over one and a half Mariucci's.

Good point about Clymer - I actually like his Gopher coverage better and agree he is getting better, as is BTN in general. As someone noted earlier, the women's field hockey announcer ESPNU used earlier this season set the bar very low :-)

Field Hockey??? NO. He was a tennis announcer.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

This x 2. That was a fun game to watch.

I didn't think it was too fun. Beyond the loss, they showed the student section quite a bit. Yikes. :p

Do they yell "sieve" so much just because they claim to have invented it and just want to constantly remind people of that? Or is it because they don't score so often so they just want a chance to say it more.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Well, where's your preview, so we can grade it. I supose it was something like "trap, trap, trap some more, get lucky, then trap."

Let's try this fun little experiment.
This series will be another litmus test for this {ADJECTIVE ABOUT TEAM A} {TEAM A} as the new and improved {CONFERENCE TEAM A AND TEAM B PLAY IN} {TEAM A / TEAM B} rivalry kicks into high gear tonight. The {TEAM A NAME} roll into {TEAM B CITY} riding a {COMMENT ABOUT TEAM A PERFORMANCE}, and despite {TEAM B NAME} {COMMENT ABOUT TEAM B PERFORMANCE}, they’ve been surprisingly tough at home since {COMMENT ABOUT RECENT MATCHUPS BETWEEN TEAM A AND TEAM B}. However, with two key offensive players ({TEAM B INJURED PLAYERS}) out with {INJURY}, the {TEAM B} have only {SILLY PHRASE FOR GOAL SCORING} {RECENT PERFORMANCE STATISTIC}.

You can take your pick of pretty much any 2 rival teams out there and plug in the appropriate items and you will have a valid "preview" for a hockey game.

Ooooh, new million dollar idea! Mad-Libs for hockey previews!

In all seriousness though, it was a nice preview. There was obviously some time that went into checking various sources for injury news and for recent statistics, but it was still kind of a "fill-in-the-blanks" style of a post. But when you come back to the board to declare yourself the winner of the internets for correctly identifying some very basic points about hockey (PP/PK play, crowd the net, match physicality), you come off like you just got done {DISGUSTING ACT THAT TEAM B'S FANS ACCUSE TEAM A'S FANS OF}.

Per UW website, the game is sold-out. Not sure there has ever been as big of an attendence difference from one night to the next (15,000+ vs. 8,900). Proves Friday night games can sell out. For whatever reason, the second game of a series always sells better no matter the days.

ok, then fill it out, and post it so we can see how you do.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

"Whine about style of play, whine, whine some more, lose a game coz your team can't impose their style successfully enough, then whine some more about style of play."

Not bad I guess but I like:

"Trap, trap bore the crowd, trap, trap lose fans, trap, take a penalty, Eaves pulls a muscle whining, trap, get a lucky goal and lead, then trap harder."

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

I find it amusing that the fanbase who does the most *****ing about how we defend in the neutral zone cheers for the team that is consistently the best equipped to work around it with fast skating and crisp passing.

Especially when it follows a game during which their team was for the most part able to have their way through the neutral zone and only lost because of what they did and didn't do in the other two thirds of the ice.

Gopher student section is busing UMN students to tonight's game. Glad we can help you guys fill the place up :p:D

Hate to say it, but I agree.

This is a great observation. Also I like how nobody has seemed to notice Eaves changed his system significantly a year ago winter break. Let's not tell anyone until after tonight's game though.

Let's Go RED!!!

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

Yeah that 1-1-3 is so different, I'm sure the Gophers wont have a clue.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 2/6 & 2/7

BS call on McCabe. Total BS.

Edit: some guy on the internet says it was higher than it looked live. I'll dial back "total" to 60%. :D It just reminds me of Ramage vs SCSU 2 years ago.

Ok, this one I'm 100% sure on. A gopher player tried to take the head off of a badger by the UW bench. No call. It was pretty blatant.
