Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 1/22 & 1/23
At least you have Minnesota born Mark Johnson to provide you with the best team on campus.
In terms of quality and consistency, sadly not much has changed for the Wisconsin Badgers over the past two seasons. Since 2014 to the present, the Badgers under the leadership of Mike Eaves have played a total of 55 college hockey games and won only 8 of them. That is rock bottom for the Badgers in 45 years. This season the only teams that have fewer wins in the entire NCAA are upstart Arizona State and Niagara.
For a school and a fanbase that once boasted about its successes of the past, the incompetence of the coaching staff and the consistent poor quality of their teams is the main reason why diehard Bucky fans are embarrassed and no longer financially support the current regime. According to the Madison Capital Times, season ticket sales are down 52 percent from just nine years ago. This season's home games at the Kohl have drawn the smallest crowds in 18 years.
Conventional wisdom indicates when fan support dwindles ($$$), it's time to look at a complete overhaul from the coaching staff on down. As already proven true, minor changes to associate staff are not going regain the former reputation Badger fans were accustomed to. In my opinion, a regime change is necessary and Mike Eaves should probably be fired at the end of what appears to be another disastrous season for the lowly and pathetic Wisconsin Badgers Men's Hockey program.
